This is a sub-page of Proto:Serious Sam: The First Encounter/Test 1.

Weapons#

Knife#

The Knife is much weaker than the final's; it takes more than one swipe to kill anything above a Beheaded-type enemy. In the final, the Knife can kill any enemy up to a Female Gnaar with one swipe. The knife sounds are also of higher quality than in the final version.

Colt#

The Colt revolvers use a different firing sound compared to the final version, but are otherwise the same as the ones in the retail game.

Pump Shotgun#

The Pump Shotgun's world model has the pump attached to the correct part of the gun, as seen on the weapon's view model. This is different compared to the final, where the pump is attached to the bottom of the gun, which appears to be a mistake. The Pump Shotgun has completely different, lower quality sounds compared to the final version. Of note is that the sounds also appeared in the first Serious Sam trailer, showing they are very old.

Double Barreled Shotgun#

The Double Barrel has a less detailed skin compared to the final version; it lacks the muzzle brake the final's has and the barrels are shinier compared to the final's. In addition, it has completely different sounds.

Tommy Gun#

To do:
While the early Biomechanoid enemy in the screenshot is found in Test 1, if there's "no trace of the Tommy Gun anywhere in Test 1," it probably belongs in something like Prerelease.

There is no trace of the Tommy Gun anywhere in Test 1, but there is a screenshot of an early Tommy Gun probably taken from a build compiled around the same time as Test 1 on the back of the European box.

Minigun#

The Minigun has a much different and lower-quality model compared to the final's. The barrels are blocky and the model is covered with a shiny texture. The firing sound are completely different. This model appeared in early screenshots, showing how old it is.

Rocket Launcher#

The Rocket Launcher behaves the same as the final one, but has completely different textures. Instead of being white and yellow like the final, it uses poor quality grey textures that puts a peace sign on top of the gun and a jaguar picture on the back, facing the player. The actual rockets have a much rounded nose than the final's and have markings on them. The sounds are also different as well and, you guessed it, from the very first trailer.

Cannon#

While the Cannon is unusable in the demo, its model can be found in the game's files. It appears to be no different compared to the final one.

GhostBuster#

The scrapped GhostBuster weapon is unusable in Test 1, but textures for it can be found in the game's files. One of the textures (lightning.tex) cannot be read by any software because of file malformation problems.
