This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace. |
A build of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which was seemingly compiled for the Xbox 360 first and ported to PC later, as the menus reference Xbox Live and its Marketplace. This is also when the game truly started to become a standalone CS title.
General Differences#
HUD#
The HUD uses a more "complex" design compared to the final's HUD, with the health/armor, weapon and ammo indicators being placed to the left. The mini-scoreboard at the top only shows how many players are alive on each team, and the minimap is smaller.
Its colors also change depending on what team the player's on, a feature that would make its way into Counter-Strike 2; though the colors here are orange for Terrorists and green-ish for Counter-Terrorists. There's an unknown claw symbol next to the C4/defuse kit icon.

Menus#
- The buy menu only works when using an Xbox controller.
- The team selection menu's buttons cover the entire screen, and it mistakenly shows the D-Pad as a keybind (the game actually uses arrow keys). It also uses (mirrored) promotional art from the Nexon-developed CS spin-off Counter-Strike: Online as a placeholder.

Game Modes#
- The Arsenal gametype category is called "Gun Game" in this build, despite Gun Game being a game mode.
- Arms Race is called "Progressive".
- The cut Scavenger mode is called "Select".
- Demolition mode is called "TRBomb", meaning "Turtle Rock Bomb", implying that Turtle Rock Studios co-developed Global Offensive.
Weapon Differences#
- The viewmodel arms are invisible on all weapons, except for the Desert Eagle.
- A cut semi-automatic Striker shotgun (misspelled as stryker in the game files) is present, and is used as the 10th weapon in Arms Race (Progressive) mode. It holds 12 rounds, uses the XM1014's model and name as a placeholder, and has a near-instant reload time. This weapon appears to be cut rather early into development.
- The MAG-7 uses the M3's model and name as a placeholder, and has a near-instant reload time.
- The Tec-9, PP-Bizon, Negev and Zeus X27 use the Glock, TMP, M249 and P228 model and name as placeholders, respectively.
- The Decoy Grenade uses the CS: Source Flashbang as a placeholder model.
- The Smoke Grenade's smoke is green.
Cut Maps#
animtestroom#
A very large and empty map, possibly used to test character animations.
aub_testmap#
Another test map. aub possibly stands for former Hidden Path Entertainment environment and lighting artist Aubrey Pullman.
de_alleyway#
de_alleyway is a Demolition map based on the first chapter of the No Mercy campaign in Left 4 Dead. The Terrorists spawn just outside of the now-removed saferoom, while the CTs spawn where the apartment building is supposed to be. It is mostly playable with very few missing assets.
The bombsite is a nondescript tanker that presumably contains water, which uses an edited Left 4 Dead 2 model with a target painted on it.
de_depot#
Depot's layout has been massively overhauled in this build.
gg_overpass#
A Gun Game/Arms Race map based on Dark Carnival's first chapter. This map is completely unrelated to the Bomb Defusal map that was added to the game with the Winter Offensive update in December 2013.
gg_park#
Another Gun Game map, this time based on the park from Left 4 Dead 2 's The Parish campaign.
zoo_players#
A "zoo" map made to show off almost all of the available player models. Interestingly, the old Counter-Strike: Source console port models are present; however, their textures are watermarked with red text saying "OLD".
Map Differences#

Aztec#
Dust#
Dust 2#
Inferno#
Nuke#
Train#
The entire B bombsite on de_train is removed, meaning that this map technically isn't actually de_train, but rather de_shorttrain from the Demolition mode.
Baggage#
The signage around the map is in English instead of German, and the airport is owned by "Blue Mesa Airlines", a rather obvious reference to Half-Life. Also, there is no airliner on the tarmac.
Shoots (Vietnam)#
Shoots has slightly darker lighting than in the final game, as it is raining. The foliage outside of the playable area is more dense, there are visible boats behind both teams' spawnpoints, and most trees around the map are broad-leaved trees.

Model Differences#
Separatists#
SEALs#
GSG-9#
Pirates#
SAS#
The SAS model in this build is merely a variant of the SEAL model with goggles on the helmet.
Cut/Unused Models#
Yakuza/Freelancers#
MPSSC#
Alternate G3SG1 Viewmodel#
An alternate viewmodel for the G3SG1 can be found in the game files as v_snip_hkg3sg1.mdl, however, it doesn't come with its own world model. It is a higher-quality model which uses Counter-Strike: Source animations as a placeholder. This model can be seen in-game by changing this line in the weapon's script file from
"viewmodel" "models/weapons/v_snip_g3sg1.mdl"
to
"viewmodel" "models/weapons/v_snip_hkg3sg1.mdl"
