mq007 – Skippy#
Text strings belonging to Skippy’s quest line. In this version of the quest, if V returned Skippy to Regina in Stone Cold Killer Mode enabled, she wouldn’t perform a factory reset on Skippy.
Skippy reacts to V taking the weapon out of the case. Makes some snarky comment about V having sweaty palms. |
V is surprised. What the hell is this? |
It introduces itself as a modified model of a smart weapon, equipped with a custom AI interface. |
Is this man your owner? |
V asks if this poor, dead fellow is Skippy's owner? |
Asks Skippy what happened here, how did this man end up dead? |
After short consideration Skippy says that he has no idea. |
Skippy says he has no recollection of any shootout happening. In fact he has no idea how he ended up in the case, nor the alley for that matter. |
Asks if the gun has a name then. |
Says it's custom, defined name is "Skippy", according to personalized settings. |
Skippy says it seems parts of its memory was wiped. Skippy suspects it might have been done on purpose. Perhaps it was stolen. |
Skippy is troubled, it's not entirely sure if he’s not missing some important files and subroutines because of that. |
This guy in the picture is you? |
Are you fully functional? |
So what can you do? |
You don't remember much, but you remember your name is... Skippy? |
V is curious - Skippy's memory is lacking, but he knows his name is... Skippy? |
Skippy confirms. Personalized setting regarding his personality and call sign are intact. He might not know where he comes from, but he is still - Skippy. |
Asks if she can change the personalized setting. If she can change Skippy's name that is. |
Denies. Changing such features would require a root level access pass. |
Asks if in this case Skippy is fully functional, missing data and all. |
Skippy is not sure, really. He will run a self-diagnostic in the background, will tell V if he finds something useful. |
Asks what can Skippy actually do. |
He will answer that he’s matrix is fully linked to the guns targeting system, so he can shoot. And assist aiming. |
I would recommend for the future. |
Aim for the head then. |
Aim for the knees in this case. |
V tells Skippy to aim at the head then. |
Skippy complies. |
Tells Skippy to aim for the knees |
No sense. I know in advance where I will hit. |
Skippy taunts enemies while he is being fired |
If shooting to kill he will also comment on the violence and gore |
Sometimes while aiming at an enemy Skippy will fire a burst of bullets by itself, getting carried away. |
Skippy starts a conversation, he needs to talk. |
This will be interesting... |
Asks Skippy what is happening. |
V is snarky. This will be interesting... |
Processing so much data about V’s victims triggered a subroutine. V can call it “parental control” if she wants. |
Skippy starts aconversation asking why V is not killing people that are trying to kill her. This is strange to him. |
Skippy will refuse to shoot to kill anymore, he will redirect bullets to aim at the knees instead. |
Can i change this setting? |
Parental control? |
V is perplexed. A smartgun has parental control? |
Skippy provides a piece of trivia, that since early 2000s there have been over {a very big number} of accidents with weapons involving children. |
From his, gun perspective - it makes sense. This is the USA after all. |
V asks Skippy if she can change this setting. |
Skippy says that this would require the root access pass that V doesn't have. Sorry. |
Anyway, Skippy says she's running the diagnostics still, he'll let V know if anything comes up. |
Skippy is to simple to get into a philosophical dispute, but would really like to know why V is prefering knee caps exploding over heads exploding. |
Killing people is bad. |
Not sure really... |
I'm going for a world record. |
V says that killing people is bad. She doesn't want to kill people if she doesn't have to. |
V wonders for a second, says she's not sure why she told him to aim at kneecaps. There was no true reason really. |
V says she wants to set the world record of a number of kneecaps ruined in a year. |
Skippy thinks he understands. Although likes to point out that by not killing people V increases the number of people that want to kill her later exponentially. |
Skippy simply says that he likes shooting kneecaps. There is twice as many of them as heads, but they're smaller, more interesting. |
Skippy tells V that there is something he'd like to talk about. |
What is it Skippy? |
You talk a lot, you know that? |
V tells Skippy that sure, they can talk. What's up? |
V tells Skippy that he talks a lot, if he didn't notice that. |
Self-diagnostic he was running uncovered something interesting. Skippy thinks he discovered the identity of his owner in a fragmented file. |
It seems that he was owned by Reggina Jones. Skippy says that he’d like to be returned to his owner now. |
I will return you to Regina |
I'm not giving you away |
V asks if Skippy knows anything more about Regina. |
Skippy says that V does. He's on of the fixers in V's database. |
V agrees to take Skippy back to Regina. |
V says he doesn't want to give Skippy back. |
Skippy thanks V. |
Skippy goes silent. After a moment says that he is property of Regina Jones and should be returned to her. |
[Default inject]I have a smartgun that claims is yours. |
V tells Reggie that he found a gun, smart, and very talkitive gun, that claims that it belongs to her. |
Wants to take a look. A very unique piece was stolen from her possession recently. Tells V to show it to her. |
V comments about being back |
Skippy says hi! |
Says that this is indeed the gun. Asks Skippy what state he is in. |
[Hand over Skippy] |
Any finders reward? |
Skippy reports that 80% of his memory was wiped, root level functions are locked, non-leathal mode is on and locked. |
Reggie says that something clearly got corrupted. Uses the root password phrase "Deer Mouse", and orders Skippy to return to factory settings. |
... After a second Skippy report in a soules voice that systems have been reset. All systems nominal. |
Skippy reports that 80% of his memory was wiped, root level functions are locked, combat systems are nominal. And ready to rock! |
Reggie says that seems everything is fine-ish. This gun always had quirks. |
Who made Skippy? |
Asks where did Skippy come from, he is rather... unique. |
Says that gun is pretty much standard, but the smart module and AI hardware is a modified corporate gear. It found its way into the streets, and some techie started tinkering with it. |
Combat circutry was top notch, but Reggie has no idea why he also added the voice interface. Perhaps the bastad was lonely? |
Anyway, Reggie got it some time ago, collecting a debt. It's pretty unique, so it's more a vanity item than anything else. |
Asks if there is any finders reward. |
Says that Regina basically killed Skippy, didn't he? He wiped his personality, rest of his memories... That's cold. |
Reggie shrugs. She did that a number of times already. Skippy usually gets corrupted after a while, and each time some personality emerges, annoying in a new way. |
Does not appriciate what Regina did. V kinda liked the current personality. |
Regina doesn't remember asking her opinion. What's done is done. |
