Formed in 1993 by the Cayre brothers, GT Interactive was a spinoff of their home video distributor GoodTimes Home Video, who were infamous for releasing a lot of Disney knockoffs on VHS. GT Interactive on the other hand would become one of the largest video game publishers in the 1990s, publishing many titles that would become well known to the public; and were the first to allow a developer to retain it's Intellectual properties.
They were purchased by Infogrames in December 1999 within shares of 70%, eventually renaming themselves as Infogrames, Inc. and publishing all of Infogrames' products in North America from then on.
