This is a sub-page of UNBEATABLE.
UNBEATABLE uses animated FMVs for setpieces. Early versions of several are shipped in the game files.
Bookend Song (Intro)#
An unfinished version of Bookend Song (Intro) from Episode 1, with unfinished audio, missing crowds and partial storyboarding. Bookend Song has different lyrics.
Waiting#
A voice acted storyboard of the cutscene leading into Waiting. Added to the game files in the 1.8.0 update for some reason.
While some dialogue remains in the final game, the vast majority of it exists as regular gameplay instead of an FMV. The sole exception is the shot of Clef's discovery of the drones outside the train, which is animated. This cutscene made it partway into animation before being cut, with work-in-progress snippets of it being featured in a YouTube video by Starapture compiling their contributions to the game. Additionally, an early frame from a different shot was posted by a developer.1 Watch on YouTube
An early version of Waiting from Episode 2, also with unfinished audio. The animation appears to be using the UNBEATABLE [white label] character designs. A colored version of the ending sequence is seen in the Day of the Devs 2021 footage.
Episode 3#
An early version of the FMV when you leave the sewers is present, with a few extra seconds of animation.
Episode 6#
Several in-progress FMVs exist for Episode 6, including the Zero Moment version of Bookend Song (Intro), the corrupted Crest fight, and the dream sequence that begins Bookend Song (Full).
