The Impossible Quiz

To do: A demo version exists which was released over two years earlier, with only 30 questions and a completely different look. Create a prototype page documenting the differences between the demo and final versions.

The Impossible Quiz is a frustrating quiz game where you answer questions with no logic at all.

Unused Graphics#

Offscreen Buttons#

There are 2 offscreen graphics seen offscreen. A weird black shape and a music note that are called once the game starts. The purpose is unknown.

Question 68#

There's an unused graphic of Chris. In the game's data, it appears as the sprite after the last sprite when the question is finished. Its purpose was most likely to be a sprite after you finish petting him, but the next question appears before it.

Question 82#

There's an unused face offscreen in Question 82. The use is unknown, as you cannot click it, however it might just be a joke from the developer as the question itself is about clipping toenails.

Question 101 and 108#

There are source images for the chihuahua in Question 101 and various elements in Question 108 found in the files.

Revisional Differences#

Excluding the Infinite Skips hack (which is a hacked version of the original), Splapp-me-do released two different revisions of the game:

The Impossible Quiz Lite#

Due to copyright issues with the music, Splapp removed the original version from DeviantArt, although it remained playable on Newgrounds. One month later, he released a lite version titled The Impossible Quiz Lite, even though its actual name is The Impossible Quiz Shite DeviantArt Version. It plays the same as the original, but without music. Be prepared for an empty and gloomy experience.

Differences#

• The message while the game is loading is different.
• "Shite DeviantArt Version" was added in the title screen and the Splapp-me-do's DeviantArt in the fourth button was changed with Play it on Newgrounds!
• No Music during gameplay, with the only exception of Mars singing 'What Is The Light?' by The Flaming Lips in question 92. As result, the mute button was removed.

HTML5 Version#

12 year later, Splapp rereleased The Impossible Quiz in HTML5 format. This version reduces the difficulty to make the game less frustrating and easier.

Differences#

• The game runs smoother than the original and lite versions.
• The Newgrounds logo with Frank on it was removed during the Intro sequence. Probably because this version was released on Poki rather than Newgrounds.
• Splapp-me-do's DeviantArt in the fourth button was changed with Splapp-me-do's Twitter.
• Like the lite version, no Music during gameplay and unlike the said version, Mars doesn't sing at all.
• Most of the sound effects are changed.
• The bomb ticks much slower, giving the player a little more time to answer bomb questions.
• Once you click “Try Again?” after getting a Game Over, you won’t lose all your skips.
