Unused Graphics

This is a sub-page of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2.

A lot of graphics found here are related to other pieces of unused content, though some point to other things... there's also a huge abundance of leftover graphics from the first game!

Torchwood & Hover Goat Party Icons#

Several unused icons for Torchwood's costumes added in the December 2018 Update can be found in the games files, which would've shown up as icons for other party members in the Backyard Battlegrounds. These may suggest that these costumes may have been planned to be variants at one point.

Likewise, similar icons for the Hover Goat-3000's costumes can be found in the game's data.

Sticker Pieces#

Unused in the game are sticker outlines and stickers for both Hover Goat-3000 and Torchwood. In the final game, both of these characters cannot be unlocked via sticker packs and instead at Trials of Gnomus.

Boss Icons#

House Gargantuar#

A Boss icon for the House Gargantuar. Judging from this, it was most likely originally going to be its own separate boss in Garden Ops instead of only being in Super Gargantuar Wave. Its Boss Slot ID, would have been "shield", had it been used within the actual boss slots.

Spotting Icons#

Bosses#

Spotting icons for various unused bosses.

Bot/Pot Spawners#

PvZGW2-UnusedBotSpawnerIcons.png PvZGW2-UnusedPotSpawnerIcons.png

Four unused Spotting icons for Pot and Bot spawners.

Colored Tacos#

Unused Spotting icons for colored Tacos. Most likely would have been used in Taco Bandits.

Objective Icons#

Unused Icons for Bases D and E.

Abilities#

Spike Ability#

An icon for a scrapped Spike ability; it likely would have been used for Cactus. Judging by the low-quality nature of the image, it's possible this is a leftover from Garden Warfare 1.

Sprint Smash#

An icon for the unused Sprint Smash ability, which would've been used for Torchwood. Interestingly, the top of his head is not lit.

Future Nut#

An icon for a scrapped alternate Tallnut Battlement named 'Future Nut'. It would have granted the player standing near it a damage boost.

Explosive Escape#

Hidden behind the animated button, Explosive Escape has its own unique icon. It can still be seen rarely in-game if the animated UI button disappears.

Cannon Rodeo Exit#

An unused exit icon for Cannon Rodeo.

GW1 Drones#

Both of the GW1 Engineer Drones can be found in GW2's files.

Unused Quest Items#

Green Crystal#

A green crystal. What it would have been used for is unknown.

Crab Robot Bait#

A cyan pair of swim trunks. This would have been used as bait in Crab Robot's Boss Hunt.

Early Sasquatch Bait#

An open can of soup. This would have been used as bait for the Sasquatch when it was a Story Boss Hunt.

Super Chili Bean Bait#

A bottle of hot sauce. This would have been used as bait in Super Chili Bean's Boss Hunt.

Orange Juice Robot Bait#

A plate of breakfast shaped like a face. This would have been used as bait in Orange Juice Robot's Boss Hunt.

Imitator Bait#

A block of butter. This would have been used as bait in Imitator's Boss Hunt.

Renegade Imp Bait#

A piece of Cyber Jerky. This would have been used as bait in Renegade Imp's Boss Hunt.

Early Pot & Bot Icons#

An earlier version of the Uplink Bot's icon when building it, using what seems to be concept art.

Early Gloom Shroom#

An earlier version of Toxic Gloom-Shroom's icon when planting it. Strangely, it is colored purple instead of green.

Early Lightning Reed#

An early version of Lightning Reed's icon.

Miscellaneous#

Wishing Well#

Found in the game is an unused banner for a scrapped Wishing Well feature. This would've been used in other player's backyards to leave behind stars. According to one of the game's developers, Justin Wiebe, it was cut due to the exploit issues this mechanic could have occurred

Zen Garden#

Thats right! The Zen garden from the tower defense games was going to have an appearance in this game! Unfortunately it was likely scrapped early in its development, as the only piece of content that exists for it is a UI graphic, which still has mock up drawings placed on it.

PBR_Test_ETT#

An unused texture, very likely used to test the ingame shaders.

Debug texture#

An unused diffuse texture, given its name, was likely used for debugging purposes.

Dummy Sticker Pack#

An unused Sticker Pack, showcasing some zombies with a completely different lighting style, as well as the Garden Warfare 1 logo. Fitting, considering this same graphic also appears unused in the first Garden Warfare. This graphic is used as the graphic for any Sticker Pack that doesn't have a graphic associated with it.

Rank Plate 55#

A graphic of a 55th rank plate, with a red and black zebra pattern. No additional characters were released that increased the max rank to this, so this goes unused.

Early Rank Plate 54#

An early version of the 54th Rank Plate, with a grayscale pattern. This was replaced with the current blue and purple zebra pattern Rank Plate when the max rank cap was raised to 5,455. It is unknown why this was replaced.

Boss Mode icons#

PVZGW2_PlantBoss.png PVZGW2_ZombieBoss.png

Placeholder graphics for Boss Mode for plants and zombies respectively, as seen in the first game. Boss Mode didn't return for this game, but it seems there were plans to bring it back.

Placeholder Boss Roulette Icons#

Careful, you'll lose an eye.

This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.
Specifically: Get rips of only the unused icons mentioned in this section, not a sprite sheet with a whole bunch of used ones.

In the sprites for the Boss Roulette icons, placeholder versions of the coins can be found, reading 'COIN BRONZE' and 'COIN GOLD' respectively. There is also a placeholder version of the Zombie Hoard icon, reading 'HOARD ARMOR.'

Missing stickerbook icon#

In the texture folder for the stickerbook, there is a "debug" folder containing this missing texture icon.

Dummy Card#

A card featuring a sad Zombie Yeti with the text 'CARD NO EXIST.' This was a leftover from Garden Warfare 1, where the stickers were (presumably) originally cards. Likely still in the files given Garden warfare 2 was rushed and the dev's had no time to properly remove everything.
