This is a sub-page of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2.
With a game as rushed as Garden Warfare 2, some things were bound to be left to the way-side. Quite a large portion of that happens to be audio, with all kinds of sound effects, character voice lines, and even some funky tunes!
Unused Sound Effects#
Damage Booster Bot#
Unused bot that could've been used by the player when on the zombie team and at a build station. Has a lot of audio associated with it so it was likely close to being finished before being scrapped.

|
Jump Sounds |
Notes |
|---|---|
A jump sound effect. |
|
You know the rest. |
|
Zombie Shield Bot#
Another unused bot that zombies were supposed to have. Unlike the Damage Booster Bot however, it has far fewer sounds to its name, and no voice audio of its own, borrowing from the Boxer bot.
Sound |
Notes |
|---|---|
Would've been used for when it was initially summoned. |
|
Idle SFX |
|
Super Brainz reload#
Back in the beta, the Super Brainz class originally had to reload his fists before he could throw them again. (Sounds strange I know). This mechanic was eventually removed in launch build, and whilst the animation for it was turned into an idle animation, the sounds were left over.
Reload Sound |
Notes |
|---|---|
One of the many voicelines that would've played when he reloaded his fists. |
|
Another voicelines from when he reloads his fists. |
|
He honestly sounds clueless... |
|
Z-mech Reload#
Alongside the discovery of unused reload animations, the Z-mech also has unused sounds associated with reloading.
Reload Sound |
Notes |
|---|---|
Flax Cannon#
The Flax Cannon was a destructible player controller turret that used to be controllable at the final point of the driftwood shores stage. Most of its sounds were repurposed into other aspects of the sequel, although its destruction sounds were never used.
Explosion |
Notes |
|---|---|
Tennis Star#
In tennis stars first person sound patch, there's a sound that's supposed to play when he primes his weapon. However, Popcap set it's audio to a value of 0 (presumably by mistake) in the sound patch, and so it never gets heard.
Prime Sounds |
Notes |
|---|---|
Is initially out of sync from when it starts firing, though can be made in sync by pitch bending it down slightly along with adding a 0.05s delay to the sound patch |
|
Computer Scientist#
In Computer Scientist's first person sound patch, this sound is supposed to play along with all the rest when he fires his weapon. However, yet again, Popcap set its audio to a value of 0 so it doesn't get to be heard.
Shotgun 'Width' Sounds |
Notes |
|---|---|
Sounds good in all of its 1's and 0's glory. |
|
Yeti Chomper#
In yeti Chompers 3rd person sound patch, there's a coughing sound thats supposed to play along with the rest, although... you know the drill, audio set to 0 in the patch, can't be heard. It would've been played at a pitch value of 0.4.
Cough Sounds |
Notes |
|---|---|
When not pitched these sounds are... strange |
|
Giga Gargantuar#
This sound is supposed to play when he's firing the Power Pole weapon. Much like tennis star however, its audio is set to 0 in the sound patch, and so it can never be heard, ever.
Scream |
Notes |
|---|---|
When modded back in, the sound is strangely wavy. |
|
Zomboss Cat#
Specifically for the Cats V Dino's version of the mech, this sound is supposed to play along with the others when using the Tail Powershot. However, its volume in the sound patch is set to 0, so it can't be heard.
Static |
Notes |
|---|---|
Giga Torchwood#
In Giga Torchwoods sound directory is a file by the name of "GigaTorchWood_VO_Haha", which as you'd expect, has him going "ha ha". This sound would've been used when he engaged his sprint weapon along with being used by the mini torchwoods Sprint Smash weapon from 3rd person perspectives. However, given both of these go unused in the final game, these sounds are never heard.
Ha Ha |
Notes |
|---|---|
AI_PulseWeapon#
Leftover audio files from GW1 that were for a sunflower turret weapon shooting can be found alongside a weapon under the name "AI_PulseWeapon". Not to be confused with the dark flower who is already used, so it was likely another offensive turret that sunflower could deploy to shoot at enemies, though it seems dark flower was deemed enough.
Firing sound |
Notes |
|---|---|
The main sound when firing the weapon. |
|
The sound played when you are a fair distance away from the source. |
|
Future Imp Jump#
Future Imps jump weapon has a sound that goes unused, given his weapon also goes unused, because PopCap placed it in the wrong weapon slot. The sound is similar to Foot Soldiers rocket jump, though it is modified to sound more cartoony.
Jumping sound |
Notes |
|---|---|
Unused Music#
Various little jingles that would've been used alongside the rest of the games songs had they been used.
Audio |
Notes |
|---|---|
Would've played during Story Mode on the Plants' side. Unused music setup implies that it was meant to be used as an alternate version during certain moments. |
|
A version of the above song for the Zombies' side. Same usage case as the plant version of the song. |
|
Takeover music for the Great White North stage. Only one song is ever used in the final game, regardless of what zone is being captured. |

|
Would've been used for the Noodle Nester Hat, although its likely bugged given the data suggests it should play. |
|
A short, dramatic song. Is located in Wolf n Pups directory under the name "wolfNpup_Wolf" |
