Pit Pot

Rescue the princess with your green hammer as Egle the Knight, the brother of Alex Kidd.

Released in Europe and Brazil on a Combo Cartridge alongside Astro Warrior.

Developer Credits#

Present at offset $7FE3 in the Japanese release and $1FBC8 in the European release:

 BY TOSHINORI ASAI

The international release also contains Toshinori Asai's initials in the 2 reserved bytes found in the header at $7FF8.

Unused Code#

The international release, containing both Pit Pot and Astro Warrior, contains a second, unused ROM header at $1FFF0. The values present in it correspond to what might be reasonably expected for a standalone international release of Pit Pot.

Unused Graphics#

An Imorin enemy from Teddy Boy appears at the end of the ROM's graphics. One can assume it was meant to appear as a cameo.

An icon that could have been meant for the blue gems you pick up for bonuses.

Regional Differences#

SG-1000 Screen#

The Japanese version contains a screen that appears if the player attempts to play the game on an SG-1000. Of note is that Pit Pot is one of only two Mark III games with hidden SG-1000 code, the other being Hang-On.

This screen was removed from the European release, possibly due to the SG-1000 having never seen distribution in that region.

Level Editor#

The European version also ousted the Level Editor, presumably to save space.
