Unused Music and Sound Effects#

A slightly compressed version of Frank Sinatra's "Summer Wind" can be found in files for Shuffleboard. Likely a placeholder track for the pool board.

A shortened version of Pigbag's "Orangutango" can be found in the files for Marty to the Rescue. The song was later used in the game's sequel.

Early version of the Power Card jingle found in Marty's Escape.

Sound effect intended for collecting Marty's third "powerstone" in King of New York.

Unused Models and Textures#

Chimp_scaled.dff#

An early model of Mason from Marty's Escape with a texture directly using the film's concept art. Oddly, it seems likely that the texture does not fit and needs to be properly edited

Alex_pounce_01.dff#

A model of an Alex Power Card for unlocking the Claws ability. It suggests that Power Cards originally had unique icons for each ability rather than using a single character icon. Oddly enough, the model is found in Jungle Banquet rather than Final Battle, where the ability is normally unlocked.

Shadow Cam.dff#

An textureless camera model located in every level of the game, probably leftover from a internal tool or debugging purpose. Its called "Shadow Cam.dff" in the world map file and the title screen but the name depend on the level.

AmbientLight.dff#

An textureless light with 3 arrow model located in every level of the game, probably leftover from a internal tool or debugging purpose. It's called "AmbientLight.dff" in the world map file and the title screen but the name depend on the level.

Monkey Money#

Early sprite for the monkey currency can be found in "Penguin's Mutiny" file, a sprite for a gold coin and a monkey banknote respectively.

Unused/Scrapped Zoovenir Shop Item#

Items

Notes

Tranquilized (not implemented)

Also called "Tranquilized effect", perhaps could have been a visual effect ? a developer's note say that have been "temporarily disabled.", every levels still have a code to check if you have that particulate item with you.

Echo Chamber (not implemented)

Unknow, It is been translated to "Echo Box" in other language. a developer's note say that have been "temporarily disabled.", every levels still have a code to check if you have that particulate item with you.

Golf: Crazy Ball (not implemented)

Could have been an extra difficulty for the Golf minigame

Development Messages#

To do:
Check for any more noteworthy/amusing messages.

Many of the scripts in this game have developer comments with them to specify what code has what function. While there's way too much to document here, here are some of the interesting bits.

Comment(s)

Level

Notes

ED DG - If I have a mango in my hand, I better damn well get rid of it!

Any level where you can throw Mangoes

This message is above the code where Alex throws the mangoes (and thus gets rid of them). "DG" likely refers to designer Daniel Gerstein, and "ED" remains unidentified.

GF - We need to turn these suckers on before we can calculate their widths

None (general files)

"Suckers" seems to be referring to button prompts. It's currently unknown who "GF" is.

HERE IS THE PROBLEM!

None (general files)

Found within code for "Generic Slider Menu Sprites".

I AM TOBY'S UNCOMMENTED MASS OF DEFINITIONS

None (general files)

Likely referring to Toby Schadt, the lead designer.

Created because it's used in a SCRIPT.

None (general files)

it is uncertain to know what is it wrote about but can be seen on screen if you switch to Alex on "back to the beach"

DG - You can't trust anyone nowadays
Someone stole dishwashing detergent from my car
I mean, come on

Marty's Escape

Those darn kids.

okay, enough of this crap - ATTACK!

Save the Lemurs!

Referring to the Foosas. This was snuck in after correcting errors in the "hurt" values.

Player beat first segment - this is a sucky way to do it but oh well.

Final Battle

The way the cutscene was animated didn't seem to satisfy the animator.

THE BPM CHANGES HERE... AW SHIT

Lemur Rave

This message is above the code which increases the song's BPM and when the button commands come in faster.

HOLY SHIT - JUICY SWEET JUICY SWEET JUICY SWEET

Lemur Rave

"Juicy Sweet" is a point bonus you can receive during the level if 100% "Perfect" is achieved.

(FRED STOPPED MY MUSICAL TRAIN OF THOUGHT)

Lemur Rave

Possibly referring to Fred Ford, the technical director.

Cutscene Identifiers#

For the game's cutscenes, each separate camera shot is given an identifier to specify what it is. While most are simple descriptions, some of them are quite amusing.

Melman - we're fucked

Found in CS04_Director.ai as behavior name This is for Melman's last line of dialogue for the ending cutscene in N.Y. Street Chase . He actually says "Guys, hey, uh, I hope those needles have been sterilized."

longer shot of marty looking at his ass

This is used in the ending after Marty lands on the Foosa boss...just before he talks to the latter's rear end. It should be noted that there are two versions of the animation for this cutscene, both with this same identifier.

melman my immune system blah blah I'm a wuss

Used for the ending when Melman says "My immune system is started to get used to the indigenous bacteria in all of your fur!"

skipper antarctica SUCKS

This is used for the game's ending when Skipper says "Antarctica; nothing but a bunch of ice!" It definitely gets the point across.

Dummy Files#

Various PAL PlayStation 2 copies of the game have a DUMMY.BIN file which is a large, empty file which is used to fill up disc space. The size of the file depends on the version of the game, ranging from 370MB in the Italian and Swedish version to 700MB in the Portuguese version.

Revisional Differences#

To do:
V3.01 has file differences with the levels/audio. While this could just be compression differences, there could also be differences with the levels/audio quality.

The PlayStation 2 version has three different revisions in the US: V1.01, V2.01 and V3.01.

  • V1.01 was released on CD-ROM while V2.01 and V3.01 were released on DVD-ROM.
    • The DVD-ROM releases benefit from faster loading times likely due to the PS2 reading DVDs faster than CDs.
    • In some parts of Europe, including France, Germany, Italy and Sweden, the game was released on DVD-ROM in order to store multiple languages on the disc, however other regions still received the game on CD-ROM.
  • Outside of disc format and different build dates, V1.01 and v2.01 are identical.
  • V3.01 includes a demo for Over the Hedge which cannot be found in V1.01 or V2.01.

V1.01/V2.01

V3.01

  • The credits differ between revisions. V1.01 and V2.01 have longer credits while V3.01 has shorter credits with higher quality audio. The Japanese version also uses the same credits as V3.01.
