Being King of the River sounds fun but watch out for bears! A fishing game that's also a turn based RPG where you fight random spiders with your fishing rod. Yes, that is a thing.
DEBUG MODE#
Game Genie codes 091-7FF-E6A + 001-84F-F7A will start the Japanese version in a very basic debug menu offering event testing, area warping, fish CHR viewing and a sound test. The debug menu is completely broken in the international releases, but it can be accessed by using the Game Genie codes 091-84F-F7A + 091-7FF-E6A.
GOTO PRG#
Test various events and warp to any point in the game.
GAME EDIT#
Allows you to edit game variables.
FISH OBJ#
Displays all the fish objects in the game.
SOUND TEST#
Listen to all the wave-crashing music all you want.
Unused Super Game Boy Features#
For unknown reasons, Super Game Boy support was never finished, only showing a generic palette appearing identical to the default 1-A.
Regional Differences#
The Japanese game comes on a special "Rumble" cartridge powered by AAA battery, like the one used for Pokémon Pinball. This offers force feedback during fishing, earthquakes, etc. International releases of the game came on a standard backward-compatible GBC hybrid cart, with the Rumble option (conspicuously) removed from the main menu.

Rumble support can be re-enabled in the ROM by tweaking the header cartridge type byte at 0147 from 1B (ROM+MBC5+RAM+BATT) to 1E (ROM+MBC5+RUMBLE+SRAM+BATT). The Rumble option still doesn't appear in the menu but is set to ON by default. An emulator or flash cart with rumble support is obviously required to take advantage of the function.
