Just Dance 2

Unused Code#

References to Strap Screens from Unused Languages#

The function RVL_SplashScreen::Activate() has code to load the Japanese and Simplified Chinese version of the strap screen, whose filenames start with strap_jp and strap_sch. While the files for the Japanese version still exist in the game (in the /logos/strap/other directory), the ones for the Simplified Chinese language are not present.

Startup Exceptions#

Just-dance-2-no-bigfile.png

The game's startup process has five different exception conditions that, if failed, trigger an OSFatal message (similarly to the DVD errors present in all Wii games). They are as follows:

  • "No BigFile selected" is displayed if the game cannot find WD2.bbf. This is the error used in the example image.
  • "Display init failure." is displayed if the game attempts to initialize the singleton instance K3d_gpo_Display and an error occurs.
  • Similarly, "Sound init failure." is displayed if the game fails to initialize the singleton instance SLib::mspo_Interface.
  • "Can't open BigFile" is presumably displayed if WD2.bbf is found, but its format is of the wrong version or is otherwise malformed.
  • "Universe init failure" is presumably displayed if the game cannot start its engine.

Unused Loading Screen#

Present in videos is an unused loading screen video that shows a CD spinning in the bottom right corner. Note that the original video had a transparent background.

Leftover Files#

Linker Address Maps#

Seven leftover linker address maps for different versions of the game can be found in the /debug directory. Three of them are for an unknown file named Ai2CppWii.plf, while the rest refer to the actual game. These contain many symbols from the game's executable, such as object and function names.

  • Ai2CppWiiDebug.plf.MAP
  • Ai2CppWiiFinal.plf.MAP
  • Ai2CppWiiRelease.plf.MAP
  • LynWiiD.MAP
  • LynWiiF.MAP
  • LynWiiR.MAP
  • LynWiiRetail.MAP

The "D", "F" and "R" might stand for "Debug", "Final" and "Release", in the same way as how the "Ai2CppWii.plf" maps are named.

Many strings found in some of those files reference Perforce, a version control system.

Unused Dynamic Library Files#

Four unused dynamic library files exist in the game, in the root of the filesystem, most of which are for non-retail versions of the game.

  • Ai2CppWiiFinal.rso
  • LynWiiD.sel
  • LynWiiF.sel
  • LynWiiR.sel

Ai2CppWiiFinal.rso mentions the Ai2CppWiiDebug.plf file:

D:\JD2\Perforce\LynProjects\WD2\pretest\LyN\Output\Win32\exe\SCR2CPP\Output\Wii\Ai2CppWiiFinal.plf

Meanwhile, each LynWii*.sel references an unused ELF executable (named the same as the SEL).

Unused Wii Motion Plus Strap Screens#

Image files for the strap screen version that includes the Wii Motion Plus exist for every language (all of which have the MP string in the filename), even though the game does not use this peripheral.

Unused Home Menu Language#

The game has the Home Menu version for the Chinese language (stored in HomeButton2/homeBtn_CHN.arc), despite it not being released in China.

Regional Differences#

Careful, you'll lose an eye.

This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.
Specifically:

The following songs are only included on Best Buy copies in North America and were not released as DLC.

  • Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny) - A. R. Rhaman and The Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger
  • Funkytown - Lipps Inc.
  • Should I Stay or Should I Go - The Clash

Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny) and Funkytown would later be included in Just Dance: Summer Party (North America) / Just Dance 2: Extra Songs (Europe).

Internal Project Name#

The game is internally referred to as WD2 which is most likely We Dance 21.
