This is a sub-page of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (GameCube, Xbox).
Unused Levels#
Burrow 2#
The GameCube and Xbox versions contain a much older version of the Burrow. There are many differences in it, but the format is a little older and cannot be loaded by the game. The file isn't even implemented in the game code itself.

Differences#
- The house is modelised in its entirety which is not the case in the final version. The house is cut in four pieces, meant to load depending on where Harry is, having one side of the house unload to save resources.
- The Ford Anglia model is included in the scene. The final version of the Burrow loads the car from a separate file.
- The skybox is different and can be seen in early pre-release screenshots for the game.
- The sun is an awkward yellow circle as a placeholder.
- The house has a window and wall inside it.
- The ground texturing is more simple
- Minor map modelisation difference
- The map contains some extra furniture that does not exist in the final version.
- The wall in the garden is a little shorter
The Ollivander Shop#
The famous wand shop is somehow still in the Xbox game files under the name "cutscene.geo", even if it is a full level. When the project for EA UK and Eurocom was to make an adaptation of the first book, you would have started out at Ollivander's shop. It is not clear what you were supposed to do, though various early models of Harry and Filch can be found.

Pre Library#
An entire cut dungeon of Night 2 library remains in the data, largely unfinished.
As the name prove it, it's an early version of the Stealth Library and should have given access to the Restricted Section by a Portrait at the end of the level. Which this one doesn't have any function for being open or do anything so you can't go anywhere really...
Entering the level, it been noticed that a lot of things does not load properly:
- The level has no sound beside the music.
- You can't cast spell, break all the glass, open Lumos panels nor open the last door
- The level crawl with Glass jars and Chests, all of them are empty when opened. The memory reveal that some of them technically have Bertie Botts Beans in it (note that no chest outside this level contain beans)
- Some doors are missing.
Eventually, fixing the glitches reveal that the first doors on the first room lead to the Grand Staircase, this means the first room really is the early version of the library annexe and the big double door at the other side leads to the Library Annexe.
A lot of prefect are placed throughout the level, they have a much different and rudimentary behavior, they lack of an idle animation, will just run to the player indefinitely when it been seen until the room restart in a second.
They would clip off the map very often and would walk to another room, it can be scarily surprising to face a prefect where they really not supposed to be.
The enchanted attacking books are here but they are used as a prop, you can target at them even though they do not have AI. In the game, the decoration books model is stored in the map file.
The second-to-last room contain a locked door and a Flipendo switch to activate that unlocked the door.
The twist of fate made the switch impossible to activate, since spells are unusable.
The last room contain a portrait that hiding a hole on the other side, the portrait does not have any function, by this fact, you cannot escape this level... Watch on YouTube

Unused Whomping Willow Area#
Another level for the Whomping Willow that was made but abandoned late in development. It introduces an original and unused system of minecarts that can be pushed to reach a high place, it would have works like the final game's crate. However, these minecarts don't work properly, as they don't move forward and cannot be climbed on.
The Gytrash arena features three Gytrashes, then, further on, the player drops a minecart through Flipendo and was meant to push the minecart to get to higher ground. Once up there, the player gets a chest with a Chocolate Frog and a Pumpkin Pasty. Hedwig has to be called and the minecraft moved to get to the land behind the perch. There is a minecart that needs to be oriented by the Puffapod so that it can be pushed down, but sometimes the minecart is oriented in the wrong direction. The player must then find on the land next to it an Owl Treat for Hedwig to unlock the exit that leads to Whomping Willow fight.
The map also exists in the PS2 version, unused on his own.
This level has an inventory map, but it is not even used once in the level, making it doubly unused.
Test Maps#
The game contains 14 test maps, they were created by the different programmers of the game and left their initial on the map. Each map seems to be an early version of the Entrance Hall with the textures being made of "clay", all with a different brightness and all contain different content inside. Some of them have their own specificity, such as Test_MD, which is small room box meant for testing particle effects

The Pink Room#
In the game's files, there is a test level named "PinkRoom.geo".
This level is quite simple: there are various objects that don't always work. The most interesting thing about these objects is that there are unused ones, like a rotating trash can that gives infinite beans. But most notable is Dobby's head, which is animated a bit. Reading his lips, he seems to say "There is a plot to make most terrible things happen".
There are also Spell power scales with a slightly different texture as seen in the game, Ron's brothers and sister names are written on the scale.
Viewer#
Also known as "Animation Viewer", this is a large, gray, empty room that the developers used to visualize almost every character's 3D model in-game. You can visualize the animation of Tom the Barman and a Particle effect and that seem to be it...
The footage here is from the Xbox version, the script doesn't work on GameCube.
With the second controller:
- Right Trigger hides the text
- Left displays a character model
- D-Pad down changes the character
- A plays or stops animations
- X "stops running scripts".
...The script itself doesn't even work well.
Infirmary#
A file named Infirmary.geo is present in the game, so it is likely that the Hospital Wing was supposed to be a room in the game. However, the file is empty, so it is likely that this room was never made. It was probably deleted because the sequence of Harry's accident and his subsequent stay in the infirmary in the original story is omitted here.
Quidditch Common Room?#
There is an unused loading screen in the game named QuiddCommonLS.geo. The image of the loading screen shows the image of the Gryffindor Common Room as a placeholder. The name of this file suggests a Quidditch locker room or anything else.
DADA Fumos#
An empty map called Fumos, it is possible that originally, Harry should have learned to cast the Smokescreen spell. It is also possible that this is a second Defend Against the Dark Arts (DADA) spell challenge which was scrapped as evidenced by this element of the DADA map.
Unused or Unseen Map Geometry#
PS2 Confiscated Items Room#
The confiscated items room of the PS2 version is present in this version, but is completely empty, and the door cannot be opened. The room mesh itself is identical to the PS2 version's.
The PS2 door#
The PS2 version has a door in the Hogwarts Grounds, which leads to a balcony. This door is absent here but can be seen from the Herbology Greenshouse.

Defense Against the Dark Arts#
In the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, behind a portrait, there is a hole where Harry might've been meant to pass through, but the painting is never opened. It is likely that these are remnants of a deleted challenge, or the old location of the portrait for entry into the first challenge.
Note that in the PS2 game, the hole is omitted, but there is a poorly textured square at that location.
Library#
In the corridor of the library, behind the portrait that takes Harry out of the Restricted Section, there is a piece of the floor. This a remnant of the PS2 version where you come out of a Lumos panel rather than a portrait here.
The Burrow#
After beating the washing machine, before the player goes into the garden, off the screen is Fred & George where their feet are slightly below the ground.
Library Annexe Area 2#
The second area of the Library Annexe, which the player visits during their second night at Hogwarts, seems to also contain a daytime version and loads simultaneously with the first area of the Annexe. No Prefects are found on patrol during the day in both sections. During any other night than Night 2, both parts of the Annexe remain under supervision of the Prefects, even if the door is locked and inaccessible to the player.

Unused level elements and setups#
Flourish and Blotts#
If loaded properly, Gilderoy Lockhart can be set in game and will stand in front of the desk, clipping through the chair like if it was not there in earlier development. Lockhart will not have any animation, the only animation he has is the T-Pose.
Gringotts Bank#

|
To do: |
The least famous place in this game has an unused state for being devoid of any Goblin and Griphooks, except for two, in the room behind the entrance door.
it is probably the room the player originally should spawn in, containing two standing Goblin that can be talked to but their dialogue no longer exists and the subtitle point to invalid piece of text.
In the cheat menu, this state is describe as
The player does not have Gameboy Advance Connectivity
this can mean that the bank would have been accessible any time, by the Entrance hall or Diagon alley, but you could have just stay in the banks first room without the GBA connectivity.

Entrance Hall#
The Hall has 5 spawn points, the second one where Harry would spawn in front of the Great Hall is unused. This would be used upon leaving the Great Hall, though only in the PS2 version can this be seen.
DADA#
The 4th spawn point of this room makes you spawn in front of the portrait as you can see more above.
From a reliable source, this was the portrait of the Fumos challenge. This is what's left of it.
DADA Expelliarmus#
The default spawn point (ID = 0) of the Expelliarmus challenge is in the entrance room above ground.
Hogwarts Grounds#
The spawn point in the front of the Quidditch door, in the night version of the Grounds, is set high above ground for some reason. It was presumably left this way by the developers, as players are not supposed to spawn here normally anyway.
