Leftover Weapons#

xsr_proto#

temp\cking\weapons\midnight_rip\rifle\xsr_proto\xsr.weap

  • Likely a temporary weapon for testing, which uses the Halo: Reach DMR as a base. It has no associated HUD or sounds.
  • This weapon can be found on the multiplayer map "zd_02_grind", or "Harvest".

stasis_rifle#

objects\weapons\rifle\storm_stasis_rifle\storm_stasis_rifle.weap

  • Fires a green projectile which creates a purple "bubble" when colliding with the ground, similar to that of the Regeneration Field armor ability. This field does not cause damage to players, but does slow them down when walking through it, but crouching while inside negates the effect. It has a very basic HUD.
  • This weapon can be found on the Spartan Ops map "ff92_valhalla", or "Two Giants", among others.

attach_beam#

objects\weapons\rifle\storm_attach_beam\storm_attach_beam.weap attach_beam

  • An early version of the Binary Rifle, which was originally called this. Fires sniper rounds and uses the sniper rifle reload animations. It uses the Binary Rifle HUD and has a very quiet plasma firing sound.
  • This weapon can be found on the campaign map "m70_liftoff", or "Shutdown".

bishop_beam#

objects\weapons\pistol\storm_bishop_beam\storm_bishop_beam.weap bishop_beam

  • Fires a continuous blue beam, similar to the Focus Rifle from Halo: Reach, which recoils when released. The beam stays locked onto its target when moving. It has no HUD.
  • This weapon can be found on the campaign map "m70_liftoff", or "Shutdown".

hunter_lmg#

objects\weapons\turret\hunter_lmg\hunter_lmg.weap hunter_lmg

  • Uses Jorge's machine gun model from Halo: Reach. Fires a red projectile which explodes into a green cloud on impact, similar to the projectiles fired by Hunters. Uses the Machine Gun HUD. Judging from the file name, this was probably replaced by the SAW.
  • This weapon can be found on the Spartan Ops map "ff90_fortsw", or "Fortress".

burst_pistol#

objects\weapons\pistol\storm_burst_pistol\storm_burst_pistol.weap burst_pistol

  • Fires blue, electrical-looking shots. Can fire a single shot or up to a six round burst. Uses the Boltshot HUD.
  • This weapon can be found on the Spartan Ops map "dlc01_factory", or "Lockup".

energy_sword#

objects\weapons\melee\energy_sword\energy_sword.weap energy_sword

  • The Energy Sword from Halo: Reach. Does not have its own HUD.
  • This weapon can be found on the Spartan Ops map "ff155_breach", or "Harvester".

flag#

objects\weapons\multiplayer\flag\flag.weap

  • The Multiplayer Flag from Halo: Reach. The tags are present, but the model is not so it cannot be spawned.
  • This weapon can be found on the multiplayer maps "ca_deadlycrossing" and "ca_port", or "Monolith" and "Landfall".

disintegrator#

Found on the test area "testchamber.map", this weapon is similar to the Spartan Laser, but has an obnoxious metal piece that covers part of the player's view, and shoots a blue laser. Disintegrator. Disintegrator being fired at a Revenant.

target_designator#

Target Designator.

Identical to the one in Halo: Reach. The weapon itself functions exactly the same, but no airstrike is called.

Leftover Equipment#

active_hacker#

objects\equipment\active_hacker\active_hacker.eqip

  • Fires blue particles forward which can disable the armor ability of enemy players they hit. The enemy player's shields will flash green when losing their ability. When used on a player with a deployed auto-sentry, the sentry explodes. On the ground, it resembles a Halo: Reach armor ability with Reach's Active Camo icon.
  • This ability can be found on the multiplayer map "zd_02_grind", or "Harvest".

teleporter#

objects\equipment\teleporter\teleporter.eqip

  • The player turns invisible and teleports a short distance in the direction they're facing, then reappears. A green beam traces their path in third person, while a green halo surrounds their view in first person. While it functions similarly to how a Promethean Knight enemy teleports, they use a different method to do so. On the ground, it resembles a Halo: Reach armor ability with a Green arrow that slowly grows repeatedly.
  • This ability can be found on the multiplayer map "zd_02_grind", or "Harvest".

Leftover Areas#

testchamber.map#

Watch on YouTubeA developer area for testing purposes, tagged as "Not For Play; Test Scripting File". Despite its boring appearance of being a square in the sky, it contains a Revenant and the Disintegrator, both of which being cut content.

Hopper Test DLC#

Watch on YouTubeThree separate test "DLC", presumably used to test the DLC system. The areas are identical, besides having different colors and shapes.

Leftover Cinematics#

Pip Box B#

Watch on YouTube"Pip Box B", a still cinematic that was used for the back of the Halo 4 Standard Edition box.

m62_introduction#

m41_librarian#

Leftover Vehicles#

Revenant#

Revenant

Only found in the dev map, testchamber. The Revenant was planned to be in Halo 4, but never really got very far. Shares next to no similarities with the Reach vehicle of the same name.

Space Banshee#

Space Banshee

Found in a Spartan Ops map, it appears to be the same model as the Space Banshee from Halo: Reach.

Flock Falcon#

Flock Falcon

Seen only in a pre-release screenshot, but still in the game files.

Leftover Units#

midnight_spartans#

objects\characters\spartans_midnight\spartans.bipd spartans_midnight

  • The Spartan player biped from Halo: Reach. Only contains the variants for five out of six members of Noble Team, missing Jorge, as he was a separate biped in Reach.
  • Can only be found on the Spartan Ops map "ff87_chopperbowl", or "Quarry".
  • Halo 4's project name was Midnight, as seen in the leaked 2013 build's executable, midnight_tag_test.

scarab#

objects\giants\scarab\scarab.gint scarab

  • The "cheap" Scarab from Halo: Reach. Used as a placeholder before the Harvester model was finished. Not normally loaded in retail, so must be forced into the global zoneset to spawn it.
  • Can be found on the Spartan Ops map "ff155_breach", or "Harvester".

Leftover Death Messages#

Upon death, one of these messages would be displayed below the player's name:

Try Not to Die Next Time!

TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO

DON'T DIE

THOUGH THIS MAY BE PLAY TO YOU, TIS DEATH TO US

YOU TRIED YOUR BEST AND YOU FAILED MISERABLY THE LESSON IS NEVER TRY

THE BUDDY SYSTEM IS ESSENTIAL TO YOUR SURVIVAL, IT GIVES THE ENEMY SOMEBODY ELSE TO SHOOT AT
