The Genesis Darius is a port by hobbyist programmer Hideki Konishi and M2 that was later licensed by Sega and Taito for inclusion with the Sega Genesis Mini.

Did I mention that it's a brand-new official Genesis game in 2019?

Test Screens#

All of these are entered on the Options menu.

Pressing Up, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up, Down, Down will bring up a sound test. Notably, it automatically switches between tracks like a music player rather than playing the same song on loop as most sound test menus do. It also plays the title jingle when you access it.

Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down accesses a cross-hatch and color test, much like you would find on an arcade game for testing the screen.

Darius_Genesis_Mini_Lag_Test.png
Down, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down, Up opens a screen for testing display and audio lag. Considering this game was designed to be played in an emulator, this might have been used for testing latency during the development of the Genesis Mini.
