This is a sub-page of Proto:World of Goo.

This is the first prototype to have near final physics. It’s known for being somewhat stable, only crashing when a level is completed (rarely).

New Goo and New Levels#

This prototype features four new types of goo and a bunch of new levels. 1. Pokey - They’d become a well-known goo in the final release. They don’t work here. 2. Spider - A purple pokey. They have female eyes associated with them. 3. Ivy - Another goo that’d become well known. Detachable wonder. 4. Balloon - The first test of the balloon ball. In this and a few other demos, it has eyes. Also, when you let go of it, it flies off.

Chapters#

This is the first version of the game to have a completed chapter 1 map. At this point, the layout was more basic and the design was more simple, but it still was “The Goo-Filled Hills”. This map would be used in revision 821 as well. Along with this, temporary, or placeholder assets remain leftover for Chapters 2-8, as the game was initially intended to have 7 chapters, with the 8th being a sandbox.

Save Data#

Save data in this prototype is stored in the registry, located at HKEY_USERS\S-[Security Key]_Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\2dboy\goo\. Profiles store their save information in a single registry key and use the following format:

[Current World],[Next Level Name],[Current World Again?],[Number of Levels unlocked],
[Unlocked Level Name],...
