August 2014 SAGE Demo releases

This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This is a sub-page of Proto:Spark the Electric Jester.

Three very early builds, one of which was made for the SAGE 2014 act 2 event, the other two are separate of it. A lot of sound effects are missing and use placeholders from Sonic Chrono Adventure instead.

Unused Frame#

Level Select#

The Debug level select from the final game is present in the private release of the demo, the only other demo to contain it would be the February 2016 demo. Only the stages up to Caria Valley appear to have been worked on at this point in development and a STAGE 9 BOSS option is present, all options but Tutorial, Stage 1, Stage 3 and Stage 4 will send the player back to the title screen.

Unused Music#

Backside of the TV from Persona 4 is included in the demo's files, this is due to the Tutorial stage's music engine being set to play this track, however the music engine is disabled in the Tutorial, rendering the track unused. The track itself is likely a leftover from the Test stage found in the February 2016 Demo and the final game, as leftovers of it can be found out of bounds the Tutorial. It also should be noted that the loop points of the Test stage's deleted music in the final game match.

Before the Sequel Trilogy and Worlds Engine Leftovers#

Several audio files from Lake Feperd's previous Sonic fan games and version 0.5 of the Sonic Worlds engine (which they were built off) remain in the files due to being referenced by an deactivated version of the audio system.

Horizon Heights Act 2 from Sonic After the Sequel, it is merely a leftover from that game.

The Stage clear, 1up, Invincibility and drowning jingles from Sonic Before and After the Sequel

A low quality version of the act 2 boss theme from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, this was also unused in the Before the Sequel trilogy and is merely a leftover of the version of the Worlds engine that was used by Lake.

A poorly looped version of the Panic jingle from Puyo Puyo Fever, this again is a leftover from the version of the Worlds engine that was used, where it played when the player was about to run out of time.

The Super Sonic theme used in version 0.5 of Sonic Worlds, it is actually a tracker module called elekfunk !.

Internal Stage names#

  • Flower Mountain City is referred to as 'Park Zone'
  • Network Bridge is referred to as 'Bridge Zone 1' and 'Bridge Zone 2' respectively
  • Smog Sewer is referred to as 'Swer Zone'

Differences between the 3 Builds and the final release#

To do:
Document differences from the final game(there's a LOT), between the SAGE, Extended and v2 demos.
