Addresses and GameShark Codes#

The following sections include useful information and codes to access unavailable content in the demo builds.

Miscellaneous Addresses#

The following is a small set of addresses for race variables that one may want to fiddle with for testing purposes. "Cars in Race" and "Launch Speed" in particular are required to stop seattle2000 from outright crashing the game.

Secret Arcade Menu Items#

The Level Selection menu contains data for four difficulty level buttons, while only three are displayed by default. Demo builds from August 30 onwards contain logic that dynamically determines the number of buttons to be shown on this screen, and patching this code reveals the unimplemented Professional difficulty. The following GameShark codes may be used to trick the game into showing four buttons or, in the case of the July 29 builds, manually format the screen to match the later patched demos:

The final game's Class Selection menu features an unlockable "Class-S" option, which is only displayed after at least one car has been made available for selection. While not visible in the demos outside of 2-Player Battle, button data for an unfinished and nonfunctional Class-S exists in builds from August 30 onwards, and menu logic akin to that of Level Selection is present to determine whether it is to be displayed. The following GameShark codes may be used to enable access to it:

Car Modifier and Roster#

Demo builds only allow the player to access three cars, also teasing a small selection of unavailable models spanning three performance classes. 3D meshes of hundreds more exist, however, and can be accessed via memory manipulation in a few ways.

The following is the complete car roster for the demos, including the codenames and hash codes required for GameShark codes as well as notes on whether the cars have unique or placeholder meshes:

Method 1: Class-A#

The following GameShark codes may be used to replace the Ford Mustang GT (the first car listed under Class-A) with anything else that exists in carobj. Note that it does not allow the player to drive cars not already featured in Arcade Mode's roster:

The 5-character ID is stored as plaintext in memory, with each letter being represented by VV, WW, XX, YY and ZZ in the code above. For the sake of convenience, the following is a table of ASCII-encoded characters and their hexadecimal equivalents:

Method 2: In-game Override#

While driving unavailable cars with complete sets of physics data is not possible in most instances, it is possible to override the body of a car previously selected through the menus with anything present in carobj. This method is slightly different as it involves the car's 4-byte hash code rather than its 5-letter ID, and can be achieved with the following GameShark code:

July 29 (EU)

D11C68EC 0000
801C68EC YYYY

D11C691C 0000
801C691C YYYY
D11C691E 0000
801C691E XXXX
E11C6920 0000

801D194C YYYY

801D194E XXXX
E11D1950 0000

D11CF6E4 0000
801CF6E4 YYYY
D11CF6E6 0000
801CF6E6 XXXX
E11CF6E8 0000
301CF6E8 00CC

801C4168 YYYY
D11C416A 0000
801C416A XXXX
E11C416C 0000
301C416C 00CC

In the code above, "YYYY" corresponds to the second half of the car's hash code, while "XXXX" is the first half. "CC" corresponds to the car color, which depends on what model is loaded and may range from 30 to 7A. If an invalid color code is passed, the game defaults to the first color available for the model.

Method 3: Garage#

Demo builds from August 30 onwards provide an additional way of viewing and selecting unavailable cars: the normally inaccessible Home and Guest Garage menus. Both garages come preloaded with cars in varying states of completion, and it is possible to replace a vehicle's body code with that of anything present in carobj. The following GameShark codes work the same way as the aforementioned override codes, replacing the first car in Home Garage (Toyota Altezza RS200):

Course Modifier and Roster#

The player is only allowed to drive on Rome Circuit Full Course (roma) by default in the demo builds, even if access to the Course Selection menu is obtained by cheating. The following GameShark codes may be used to override this with any of the other existing tracks:
