Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links takes the standard rules of the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game and cuts many of them down to keep things relatively quick for playing on-the-go. Three zones for monsters instead of the standard five, 4000 Life Points instead of the standard 8000, and so on. Mix in things like online PvP, unlockable characters, and limited-time events, and you've got a complete package!
Unused Structure Deck#
In the September 28, 2022 update, an image seemingly advertising a new Structure Deck EX centered around the card "Number 73: Abyss Splash" was added to the game. Additionally, a Skill for the character Reginald "Shark" Kastle that seemed to be intended for release alongside the Structure Deck was discovered in the Japanese game's files in November 2022.
The Holy Drop Falls into Chaos Reveal 1 "Number 73: Abyss Splash" in your Extra Deck and add 2 "Gazer Shark" from outside of your Deck to the bottom of your Deck, also place 1 each of "Eagle Shark" and "Panther Shark" in the Graveyard. This Skill can only be used once per Duel if you begin the Duel with a Deck that follows the conditions below: ● You Deck contains at least 7 monsters and does not contain any monsters other than WATER and Fish-Type monsters ● Your Extra Deck does not contain any monsters other than Xyz Monsters. |
This Structure Deck, as well as the monsters mentioned in the Skill ("Gazer Shark", "Eagle Shark", and "Panther Shark"), would go unreleased until May of 2025, where they were included in a regular box release, along with a different Skill for Shark that was more balanced around the current meta, indicating that Konami had decided to scrap the Structure Deck altogether.

Revisional Differences#
Paradox Brothers/Mokuba Kaiba/Espa Roba/Lumis and Umbra Theme#
The theme used for the Paradox Brothers, Mokuba Kaiba, Espa Roba, and Lumis & Umbra was updated in late 2018. As a result, the original version is no longer used and cannot be heard in-game.

Oddities#
Yugi Muto (DSOD) Player Icon#
When unlocking a character, the player receives an icon of them. These icons always feature the character's neutral expression. (Compare Yami Yugi's icon to his neutral expression for an example.) The only exception to this is the icon for the Dark Side of Dimensions version of Yugi Muto, whose icon instead features another one of his expressions.
While it's a fairly minor difference, the icon has his more curious-looking expression as opposed to his neutral one, something that's never happened with any other character.
