Yoshi is a puzzle game starring the titular green dinosaur, made by the people who later brought us Pokémon. The music even sounds like Pokémon.
Unused Graphics#
The baby Yoshi on the Japanese title screen has unused graphics for its bottom half. Presumably, they intended to show both half- and fully-hatched versions.

An earlier, less shiny set of Yoshi sprites can be found near the end of CHR ROM. A single tile for one of Star Yoshi's sprites was overwritten, but the early sprites are otherwise fully intact.
Part of a sprite for a scrapped fifth type of Yoshi, which seemingly would have been bigger than any of the types that are used. These tiles are all that's left of it.
A zero, seemingly a remnant of an early font. This is similar to the point graphics from Super Mario Bros. 3, and may have served a similar purpose.
A set of tiles that would have been used to add shadows to the menus. Below is a mockup of what this might have looked like;

Regional Differences#
Japan |
US |
Europe |
|---|---|---|
Every region has a different title. In Japan, it's Yoshi no Tamago (Yoshi's Egg), in the US it's Yoshi, and in Europe it's Mario & Yoshi. The Japanese title screen has an extra Yoshi egg and the baby Yoshi's sprite is not tilted to suggest perspective.
