Yoshi's Cookie is one of the many, many puzzle games spawned in the aftermath of the late-80s Tetris craze.

An angry Peach. This sprite seems to use an early colour scheme, which can also be seen in development material.

A trophy and sad thought bubble. The Game Boy version uses similar graphics at the end of a Vs. match for the winner and loser, respectively.

In the round 6 cutscene, Mario is behind a plane in the foreground, obscuring his feet.

Unused Music#

The SNES version has one unique song that never appears in the game or any of its ports. The song can be accessed with Pro Action Replay (PAR) code 7E00E607, which also works on the Yoshi's Cookie mode of the Japan-only enhancement Yoshi no Cookie: Kuruppon Oven de Cookie.

The song is loaded in the cinema music bank and may have been originally intended for the final cutscene.

Unused Title Screen#

Using Pro Action Replay (PAR) code 7E004400 or by changing the first byte of the ROM from 0x92 to 0x80, one can access a disabled title screen along with an otherwise-unused logo zoom-out animation at the copyright screen. This is the same intro sequence seen in the prototype ROM.

The title screen features the cookie jar skit from the NES and Game Boy versions, which makes it very strange that Nintendo opted to not be consistent.

The Japanese version has an opening even more unique, with animated eyeballs. It can be loaded with the code 7E004400.

Regional Differences#

Japan

The international versions of the game use BPS's newer and rather ornate lion's head logo, whereas the Japanese version uses the old, blocky logo.

Musical stings for the logo differ between regions. The Japanese version uses the same jingle that was used for all other BPS releases with their older logo, whereas the international versions feature a jingle that's similar to the Japanese one, but with a different ending. It's notable in that this version of the jingle was only seen in Yoshi's Cookie; no other international release from Bullet-Proof had any music for their intro, and Japanese BPS releases with the newer logo had an entirely different sound of their own.

In Yoshi no Cookie: Kuruppon Oven de Cookie, neither logo appears.

Aside from the obvious title change, Bullet-Proof Software was also shortened to "BPS" in the Japanese version.
