There's a whole lotta hot air up there, ain't that right, eh Boo Boo?
Sound Test#
Game Genie code 0C2-33F-80A (Yogi Bear) or 0C1-C2F-80A (Pop'n Pop) will start the game in a basic sound test.
Unused Graphics#
Dee Dee and Dexter#
A rather psychotic Dee Dee, the co-star of Dexter's Laboratory, was evidently planned to be a playable character, with Dexter as her balloon-shooter. Her coding is still present in the game, and playable via hacking. As to if this was a remnant of another canceled localization, or if she was planned to just randomly appear alongside Yogi's crew, is unknown. Interestingly, a previous Taito game, Elevator Action EX, had been reskinned into a Dexter's Laboratory game the previous year.
Leftover Pop'n Pop Graphics#
Most of the graphics from the Japanese version are still present in the European version and in Yogi Bear. Game Genie code 011-57F-E62 will allow them to be displayed in the BGB VRAM viewer using GBC mode.
Small pieces of the logo were removed from the US version to make room for the GBC-only message, as the leftover graphics share the same bank.

Despite its North American disguise, Yogi Bearː Great Balloon Blast is actually a reskin of Pop'n Pop, which featured Taito characters such as Bub from Bubble Bobble and Ptolemy from The Fairyland Story. The former was quite a popular character in the Americas at the time, making the decision for a reskin rather questionable...
The modified Yogi Bear version replaces Pop'n Pop's storyline, cast, and various graphics. It also has just 3 playable characters, instead of 9. As a result, only 3 of the special balloons can be earned by building up the special meter.
- The Japanese version announces its name with a "Pop'n Pop" voice, and has an additional main menu option for a puzzle editor feature.
- The European version is the same as the Japanese version but without the voice clip announcing the game's title, and is missing the puzzle editor feature.
- The Japanese version featured a staff roll that was omitted from the US version.
