Unused Graphics#

Unused graphics, grouped by their parent folder.

ch0b#

An unused, early sprite sheet of Yoo. This sheet was present in the launch version (where Yoo was not playable), and removed in the 1.0.1 update. In 1.0.2, Yoo's assets were readded and he became playable, but the new sheet used is largely different, leaving this sheet entirely unused in the end. This sheet contains some visibly unfinished sprites.

The case is the same with his initial alternate palette.

In Yoo's latest sprite sheet, there are a few unused frames that are evidently carryovers from Miller's sheet, as shown by the eyepatch.

In his latest alternate palette, the same carryovers are present, colored accordingly, with an additional unfinished frame. The sheet also strangely includes sprites of Jamma.

ch01#

Duplicate unfinished frames from Costa's throwing animation.

They are also present in his alternate palette.

ch03#

Miller's main sprite sheet contains unused frames of him wearing glasses.

ch04#

Frames from an unused version of Biaggi's holding animation, including his thumbs. These frames are also present in his alternate palette, where they are the exact same.

ch05#

Duplicate unfinished frames from Mita's losing animation.

They are also present in her alternate palette.

A frame from Mita's arcade ending has a notable portion that is unseen in-game.

In-Game

ch08#

Raposa has an unused sprite in his match sprite sheet that is similar to his arcade opening sprite, but is ultimately unused. This sprite is also present in his alternate palette, where it is the exact same.

arcade_credits00#

The sprite sheet for the logos used in the credits contains an unused Data East logo.

arcade_ending00#

The sprite sheet for elements of the arcade victory screen contained an unused sprite of Yoo, colored in his alternate palette. It is notably larger than all other character images. In the 1.0.2 update, it was replaced by his used sprite.

In the same 1.0.2 update, early victory elements of Jamma were added to the sheet. These sprites were replaced by their final versions in the 1.1.0 update (where Jamma became playable), leaving them entirely unused. Jamma's logo uses a plain font and the American flag here.

select00#

The sprite sheet for the character select screen contained unused portraits of Yoo from the launch version through 1.0.2, where they were replaced by his current portrait, leaving these early ones entirely unused.

Also in the 1.0.2 update, early character select elements of Jamma were added to the sheet. These sprites were replaced by their final versions in the 1.1.0 update, leaving them entirely unused. Jamma's portraits are the same mirrored pose here. The American flag is again used a placeholder for her custom flag, but her logo is pretty similar to the final iteration.

splash#

The sprite sheet for splash screen logos contains an unused epilepsy warning screen, with an inexplicable picture of Crazy Frog beside it.

texture#

fallback#

A pink fallback texture.

worldmap#

A texture of the arcade map. This texture was unused, likely because the arcade_map00 sheet already contains it, and was removed in the 1.1.0 update.

Unused Fonts#

Within the fonts folder is a subfolder titled deprecated, which contains a number of unused fonts.

Only one of them is valid and viewable, that being NotoSansCJKtc-Regular.otf:

The others are .fnt Bitmap fonts, that can only be viewed with a corresponding image of the glyphs, which the game's files lack.

Unused Music#

In the game's executable file, fmod audio event paths are listed. Among the paths for the stage BGM tracks is one for "Concrete", a stage from the original Windjammers that didn't make it into the sequel. No actual audio file is present, however.

Oddities#

Internally, court assets are stored in folders with a naming convention of co01, co02, co03, etc. There is a notable gap between co04 and co06, implying an additional court was planned, likely Concrete.
