Tron: Evolution is an action-adventure game that serves as the prequel to Tron: Legacy.

This was also the last game developed by Propaganda Games before Disney closed them in 2011, due to the game under-performing in sales.

Unused Graphics#

The PS3 version has an unused splash screen, which appears to be a modified version of the default Unreal Engine 3 one. The PC version replaced it with a proper splash screen (a render featuring Anon on their light cycle), which does get used.

An unused splash screen exclusively found in the PC version, which is meant for a level editor of sorts.

Platform Differences#

  • The PC version has both the SecuROM and Games for Windows Live DRMs. The former was abandoned at some point in 2019, resulting in the game being unplayable on PC without patches and its delisting.
  • As Gamestar handled the PC port, a FMV for their logo appears when booting the game up in that version.
  • The console versions of the game both render at 1280×720, whereas the PC version allows up to 1600×900.
    • Editing GridEngine.ini allows resolutions higher than 1600×900, though it results in a bug where enemy health bars are misplaced.
  • The console versions also target 30fps, whereas the PC version targets 62fps.
    • As with the resolution, editing the "GridEngine.ini" file allows frame-rates higher than 62, as well as completely removing the lock.

Internal Project Name#

The game's internal project name is "Grid", as mentioned by several files, folders, and the executable. This refers to the main setting of the Tron series, The Grid.
