Tokyo Twilight Busters is an adventure game by Wolf Team that mixes typical Japanese menu-driven adventuring with an unusual “real-time mode”.

Hidden Developer Message#
|
|
'...But does it make sense?' |
During the adventure part of chapter 10 (滅びし帝都), just after the four-way barrier event (四方結界), placing a specific set of items in the main character's inventory before going to sleep will trigger a hidden developer message. The message is delivered by a clown portrait, who appears after some scrolling text.
The eight items needed, which can be obtained during the four-way barrier event, are:
- handgun bullets (拳銃の弾)
- handgun, unloaded (拳銃(空))
- molotov (火炎瓶)
- first aid kit (救急箱)
- coffee (コーヒー)
- sedative (鎮静剤)
- katana (日本刀)
- rubbish (ゴミ)

本作品はゲームシステム的にはとて |
In terms of gameplay systems, I think it is very interesting. |
しかしながら物語の内容を垣間見る |
However in terms of the story, there are many unacceptable inconsistencies in the dialogue and behaviour of the characters, especially Shō and Yuki, and as someone in charge of the scenario I can only feel ashamed. |
ともあれ一年半も時間を掛けたこの |
Anyhow, this game has taken as much as a year and half to develop, and to avoid the ire of users who purchase it I will make effective use of the remaining check period. |
〜Postscript〜 |
~Postscript~ If by chance a user who saw this message should send a “letter of misfortune” [chain letter] to a certain “K” who is infesting the Telenet Japan development office, nothing would bring more joy. |

The item checks are performed in SEN004A9.SCV, and the message text is in SEN004A9.MCV

Missing Chapter 8#
In the first half of the game, the mandatory prologue and chapter 1 are followed by three optional chapters (numbered 2, 3, 4), then another mandatory chapter 5. This means that if some of the optional chapters are skipped, there will be a gap in the chapter numbers, but if no chapters are skipped then the chapter numbering will have no gaps (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
In the second half of the game, there is a similar pattern: the mandatory chapter 5 is followed by two optional chapters (6, 7), then the mandatory chapters 9, 10, and the final chapter. However, there are not enough optional chapters in this group to ever use the number 8, so chapter numbering will always have a gap (5, 6, 7, _, 9, 10).
The chapter numbering gap was reportedly fixed in the Nintendo DS remake.
Unused Chapter Names#
At offset 0x12168 in TBS.EXE there is a numbered list of chapter names, some of which are never used.
