Development Timeline#

1994

  • According to the hidden developer message, the game had been in development for a year and a half (一年半) as of June 1995, suggesting that development would have begun in late 1993 or early 1994.

1995

  • January 27 — Projected release date according to a preview in Dengeki-Oh, though the game did not release at this time.
  • June — The hidden developer message indicates that the game was still in its “check period” (チェック期間) during June 1995.
  • The game was released at some point in 1995, presumably during or after June.

All of the dialogue seen in these screenshots is absent from the final game.

The article's data box lists a projected release date of January 27, but the game's hidden developer message indicates that it was still in development during June.

Manual#

Please elaborate.
Having more detail is always a good thing.

The game's printed manual contains several inconsistencies with the final game, suggesting that some game features were scrapped or added after the manuals had already been finalized for printing. Some of these inconsistencies are addressed by two errata sheets that accompany the manual.

Page 16 of the manual specifically claims that saving is not possible in real-time mode. This is corrected by errata sheet 2, which states that saving is possible in real-time mode, which is true in the final game.

Page 21 of the manual mentions that party members who reach low HP or zero MP will need to spend several days in hospital to recover, and that the rest of the party can visit them in hospital during that time. These features appear to be absent from the final game.

Errata sheet 1 describes the “backpack” feature present in the final game, allowing each party member to temporarily carry an extra 8 items during real-time mode. This feature is not mentioned at all in the manual.
