Apparently Vince was supposed to help shoot the walkers from the roof at Howe's.

Tavia was supposed to be grabbed by a walker from behind, fall of the roof of Howe's, and presumably break her neck and die. In the final game, a walker still approaches Tavia for this purpose, but the scene cuts away right before the walker reaches her.

All text is taken from the respective landb files, unless where noted. The audio is ripped from the Windows version.

Trailer Park#

The trailer park is where Jane and Clementine head to find Luke and Sarah (and Nick, determinantly) after they get split up from the main group. Subtitles for this segment are stored in the env_trailerpark_english.landb file.

On the walk to the trailer park, Jane was going to tell Clem a joke.

Jane

Hmm. You know that old joke about the two hillbillies and all the sheep?

Jane

Oh, it's a good one. This father and son are walking through the country, and climb a hill, and down below them see this field full of sheep.

Jane

Now, the son gets all excited and says "Dad! Let's run down there and fuck one of them sheep!" And the father looks at him and shakes his head, is disappointed in him. "Son," he says, "That's just wrong."

Jane

The son hangs his head, and the father says, "Let's WALK down there and fuck ALL of those sheep."

Jane

You get it?

Clementine

No.

Snowy Field#

After the birth of AJ, the group decides to trek through a snowy field, looking for a safer haven than the Civil War memorial. There they get stopped and ambushed by Arvo and his group. Subtitles for this segment are stored in the env_roadsnowy_english.landb file.

Besides his laughter, Vitali isn't shown speaking in the episode. He does actually talk, but it's only a short comment when his back turned to the camera. Also, like his compatriots, Vitali's lines are all coded to show up in-game simply as , however, the files also show the English equivalent written out. This English text is used for the subtitles down below. "Maud" here refers to the woman of the group. In the next episode, she's referred to as Natasha, but all files also use the name Maud. It's possible that her name was changed as "Maud" isn't a typical Russian or Russian-sounding name.

Notes

Buricko

No guns! No guns!

Buricko

No guns!

Luke

Fuck!

Maud

These are them?

Arvo

Yes. It's them.

Maud

Not here?

Maud

Arvo?! What is going on?

Maud

Then try harder!

Vitali

Maud. What are they saying?

This is also the only line where "Maud"'s referred to by name in the episode.

Maud

I don't know. I only know as much as you do.

Buricko

Both of you shut up and just stay alert.

Vitali

I don't like this. Just make them put their guns down, Arvo.

Maud

He's trying. Just be patient.

Vitali

I'm tired of being patient.

Buricko

Yeah. If Arvo can't do it, then we'll handle it.

Maud

Just get the medicine back! this is crazy!

Vitali

What the hell is going on?! This is too much! Buricko, back down!

This line is used, although barely understandable through all the yelling. And it's also never subtitled.

Buricko

If you know what's good for you, put your guns down NOW!

Buricko

You! Gun. Down.

Vitali

Buricko STOP! You're going to get us ALL killed!!

Maud

Arvo - Why wouldn't they listen to us?

Vitali

Because they're stubborn Americans. They wouldn't listen and now we're all screwed!

Buricko

Don't try and be fucking cowboys - You're all out of your goddamn league!

Vitali

You want to die?! Do you want to die, huh? Don't push me. Do I look like a nice man?

Maud

Are you out of your mind? What the hell do you think you're doing? You're going to get us all killed! Hey! You! Don't point that thing at me! Put it down! I said put it down!

For some reason, this line was recorded in English, despite a dialogue tag calling for it be [Russian]. This is Maud's only line English. The spoken line differs quite a bit from the subtitles. While the subtitles say "You're going to get us all killed!", the spoken dialogue says "You're going to get us with your idiotic posturing!" Also, the last two lines from the subtitles aren't present in the voice recording. Even stranger is the fact that this line seems to have been recorded by someone pitch-shifting their voice quite noticeably. This may imply that it's a placeholder line that was never finished.

Vitali

Buricko! Buricko! We can take them! I can kill any three of them with my bare hands, we don't even need the weapons! That's right, I mean you, eyepatch man, you're weak and I could tear out your throat with my teeth, who needs to use bullets for the likes of you? I'll kill you all and eat your entrails for breakfast!

Another line recorded in English despite the audio tag implying otherwise. This is Vitali's only line English (until the next episode comes along anyway). While the subtitles yell for Buricko, the spoken dialogue yells for Vitali. This is strange, seeing as the line belongs to Vitali, which makes him yell for himself in third person. Also, the subtitles have Kenny referred to as "eyepatch man", while the dialogue uses "one-eyed man".

Buricko

So, this is how it's going to be, is it? That's fine! This is as good a day to die as any other! You don't scare me, you pathetic scavengers! Just bring it on! Bring it on! Bring it on!

Reused Models and Textures#

As the Russians (besides Arvo) seem to have been created late into development, they were pieced together from different assets instead of getting their own fully unique ones.

Buricko#

Buricko uses, of all things, Clementine's jacket body texture as a base. This is very noticeable as Clem's jacket texture is already quite obviously pasted over her normal texture, with Buricko's texture just recoloring the jacket green, the pants darker, and adding a hood.

Buricko

Maud#

Maud's head texture appears as a lightened version of Tisha's head texture from the previous episode. Besides the lighter skin, she also has blue tones around her eyes. What's even more interesting, though, is the fact that Tisha's head texture was already a mashup of Bonnie's/Vera's and Sarita's head texture, so now the texture gets reworked for a fourth time in order to create Maud's.

Tisha

Maud

Maud's body texture arguably uses an even stranger source than Buricko's, as most of her texture is copied from Alvin, yet her pants are derived from Christa. Both the pants and her shirt and jacket are only slightly recolored.

Vitali#

Vitali's head texture uses Nick's as a base. It features lighter shading, lighter hair, and different eyebrows.

Nick

Vitali

His hair texture is taken from Winston, one of the scavengers from episode 1. It goes almost unaltered, only removing some detail from the head part.

Winston

Vitali

Vitali's body texture is based on Johnny's, another scavenger. However, the jacket has been made slightly darker and now appears closed, rather than open. His shoes and pants are also different, but they appear to have just been randomly pasted all over the texture, leading to a messy result.
