Super Dodge Ball (Neo Geo)

It's an old cactus!

This page is showing its age.
Please update this page to fit our current standards! Here are some things you can do:
Game was included as part of Super Technos World: River City & Technos Arcade Classics in Japan, and needs an overhaul.

Super Dodge Ball is a sequel/remake of the 1987 original. It's also known to be Technos's last game they developed before going bankrupt. Needless to say, this game is extremely rare, as it was released in limited quantities in arcades and no AES version has been made.

Japanese Mode#

Despite not being released in Japan, Super Dodge Ball, like most Neo Geo games, includes a Japanese mode activated on Japanese devices, which retitles the game to Kunio no Nekketsu Dodgeball Densetsu (which translated is Kunio's Hot Blooded Dodge Ball Legend). Technos location tested a Japanese version in arcades, but since the company went bankrupt, this version was not released and the game was only given a limited US release from SNK.

Oddly, MAME labels the Japanese title as Kunio no Nekketsu Toukyuu Densetsu.

All of the gameplay text is translated. How to play and Character Select backgrounds are modified to replace the US logo with the Japanese one.

European/Asian Mode#

Although not being released in Europe and in Asia either, playing with a European or an Asian device, the game will behave entirely like the US version, but with a minor difference. When a coin is inserted, the game will display the title screen with the 30 seconds countdown (as it does in the Japanese mode). In the US version, the intro sequence keeps playing instead.
