Stick RPG 2

To do:

  • Cover the combat demo.
  • Cover the pre-release shots.
  • Add text labeled with the tag internally.
  • Check srpg2_data.xml for unused NPCs.

Stick RPG 2 is the sequel to the famous Flash game Stick RPG, but this time it's bigger and badder. An added improved combat system, random events in jobs, quests, more jobs, more stuff to do, and so much more! And even more stuff was added when its expansion, The "Director's Cut" was released.

Game Data#

Upon launching the Director's Cut edition of the game, it will dump all of its important files into your PC's temp folder. This includes reference sheets in XML format for all items, text and events, as well as all of the different fight scenes. There are also a few SWF files, including that of "Ballistick" - an early version of XGen Studios' later game Stick Arena, which plays similar to the fight system seen in Stick RPG 2.

Unused Text#

The game contains plenty of lines for situations that can never occur, such as not qualifying for a job that has no qualifications or asking for a promotion in a job with no promotions, among others. There is also some placeholder text and dialogue from NPCs that never appear.

Low Standards Not Met#

This text would display if you were to somehow not qualify for a job at McSticks or Stickbucks, both of which have no requirements. It may be possible to see this if you somehow have negative Strength, Intelligence or Charm, or Karma below -9999 or above 9999. The stat training methods (the gyms, bars and schools) internally count as jobs, and therefore also have this line.

Why don't you ask a homeless guy if can hold his change cup? We've got low standards, but you don't meet 'em.

Gym Promotion#

Because the stat training methods in the game are internally considered jobs, they have a contingency for if you were to somehow ask for a promotion - including if you were to actually get said promotion.

For the gym and bars:

There are no promotions, you're at the gym n00b.

For the schools:

There are no promotions, you're at school n00b.

For getting a promotion (shared between all methods):

I guess you've proven yourself enough for a promotion. Don't make me regret my decision.

Stat Improvement Hire#

The player is already considered "hired" at all of the stat training methods. If you were to somehow not be and successfully apply for the jobs, this text will display:

Welcome to the gym. Click 'work' to workout.

Despite it mentioning the gym, it is used for all stat training methods.

Extreme Karma Jobs#

The Ice Cream Tester Job and Kitten Exterminator are jobs that have no promotions, and require 900 Karma or -900 Karma respectively. They do, however, have text for if you were to somehow ask for a promotion.

For being rejected:

I think you've done your share of... work.

This is in a tag labeled "no_promotion_speech", so it contextually might actually be for jobs that have no promotions, rather than being rejected a promotion.

For being accepted:

You've earned it, alright.

Unused items#

Bullet-Proof Vest#

An unused graphic and description of a Bullet-Proof Vest, which, judging by the name, would've reduced the damage of bullets or acted like the Ironium Skin in-game cheat, which reduces all incoming damage by half. While it has no "item_purchased_from" tag for a vendor, it has a purchase value set at $12000.

The tag reads 'Made in Kazakhstan, 100% Kazakh Cotton. Not guaranteed to stop bullets, pencils, or small woodland animals.

Fake Gun License#

An unused graphic and description for a fake gun license. Going by the description, it would've allowed you to enter Steel & Hawk's Pawn Shop, just as the ID card allows you enter bars, casinos and Hot Hot Hot. Unlike the ID Card used in-game, this lacks a "real" variant. It has a purchase price coded at $750, and has its vendor set as Wally-Mart - though this is likely a placeholder as many items' vendor tags are set to something unfitting.

A pretty good replica of a real Gun License, except that the person pictured looks absolutely nothing like you. Hopefully the guy at the pawn shop won't notice.

Condom#

An unused item that, as the description implies, was probably bought in one of the bar bathrooms. While the Dangling Pianist's male bathroom appears to have a dispenser, it is purely a part of the environment. Its icon was used for the Escort job given to the player by He-Pimp Harvey.

Stick RPG 2 Condom Item Icon.png
It's a condom. You bought it in the men's washroom, remember?

xPhone#

An unused item with the same graphic as the Save icon in any of the player houses. It has no tags to discern where it was obtained, such as a purchase price or vendor. As the final game's pause menu is visually portrayed as a smartphone, this item may have been a key item the player started the game with, representative of that menu function.

Stick RPG 2 xPhone Item Icon.png
The most popular phone on the market today, the xPhone 7G comes with a 16-Gigapixel camera, Eleventeen Zetabytes of storage, and a battery with over 9,000 jigga-watt hours of talk time. Plus, intergalactic voice roaming – the xPhone works in space, mother trucker.

Coathanger#

An unused item with no clear use or method of obtaining.

Stick RPG 2 Coathanger Item Icon.png
This coat-hanger has seen better days. Aside from any sentimental, and potentially utilitarian, value, it looks pretty worthless.

Crown#

An unused item with no description. Its icon is used as the job icon for the Government Official job in-game.

Huge Fucking Diamond#

An unused item with a name that is especially unique, as no actual written obscenities exist in the final game, instead being replaced with a comical symbol censor (like "$%#@ ya!" from The Auto Railer 9000's description). It has no description.

SRPG2 hugediamond.png

Huge Diamond Ring#

An unused item similar to the Ring used in the final game. It and the previous item were likely once used in Victoria's marriage questline in place of the Watch and Ring used in all of the other marriage questlines, since they are located next to the items used in said questline in the item index.

The mother of all rings.

Unused sounds#

Karma Up & Down#

Two sounds exist in the files called "Karma Up", and "Karma Down". These might've played if you did something to raise or lower your Karma respectively.

Karma up

Karma down

These sounds might have played when you are talking to the NPCs of Paper Thin City, due to the sounds having the word "popup" in them..

Popup sound 1
Popup sound 2
Popup sound 3

Cash counter#

An unused sound, called "cashcountersound". It might have played if the player has gained or lost cash.

Cashcounter sound

Unused Graphics#

Early Phone Icon#

An early version of the phone seen in early screenshots. It's a tablet-like device with the letter M on it, which most likely stands for menu.

Early Closed Sign#

An early graphic of the closed sign, which doesn't display what time they open or close.

Old TV#

An unused icon of the TV. Its purpose is most likely to act like the previous game, where it gives you a random story and increases your intelligence. Judging by its name, it would probably be bought from Steel & Hawk's Pawn Shop.

Messages#

An unused message icon. Like the TV, it may have had functions similar to Stick RPG, where the player receives messages depending on their actions in-game.

Update Screen#

Screen that would be used for downloading an update to the game. Stick RPG 2 never received a single update, so it is not possible to have ever seen this in-game.

SRPG2 Update Screen.png

Error Message#

A self-explanatory error message. No way is known of causing it to appear in-game.

SRPG2 error message.png

Unused Code#

Caffeine#

The reference data for the Coffee and Fancy Coffee items contains a variable tag for a "caffeine_level", both set to 1. It has no known function in the final game.

<caffeine_level>1</caffeine_level>

Blast Cannon#

The Blast Cannon weapon has a price coded in at $119750, despite the fact that it can only be acquired through finishing the Hardware Store murder questline.

<item_cost>119750</item_cost>
