se_voice_sonic_action_e.csb, se_voice_sonic_action_j.csb, se_voice_sonic_areamap_e.csb, and se_voice_sonic_areamap_j.csb contain loads of unused voice clips for Sonic, including variants of used clips and original clips.

Boss Banter#

There are unused tracks in the game's Synth folder of Sonic taunting bosses in both English and Japanese, as well as banter between Sonic and Dr. Eggman during the final boss. However, in the actual fights, Sonic is silent, and Eggman only has one line in the final battle. The Frigate Orcan and Frigate Skullian clips are used in Sonic Colors: Ultimate, though the rest remain unused.

General

Sonic: That was pretty fun!

Sonic: That beats riding a slowpoke ferris wheel any day!

Rotatatron

Sonic: A little rough, but that was my kind of ride!

Sonic: Now it's a shipWRECK adventure ride!

Sonic: Did I go a little too far this time?

Refreshinator

Sonic: And I was really hoping for some decent rides in this place.

Eggman: That's not... but they're even more powerful than the Chaos Emeralds! No!

Eggman: But... but how? This should be just a fraction of the Nega Wisp power!

Sonic: Maybe the Nega Wisps don't like you either, Eggman! Looks like I win this round!

Sonic: Sorry Eggman, it looks like the Wisps have sided with me on this one!

Eggman: But that's... my Nega Wisp was to be perfect! GRAAAH!

United Wisp Themes#

The multiplayer mode has special music for when both players are using a wisp at once, titled "bgm_pha_multi_united_wav" these unused themes are all titled "bgm_pha_united_WISPID_wav" likely intended to be overlayed on top of the base wisp themes given that the united variants are louder, and the notable absence of the frenzy wisp, which does not make an appearance in Game Land.

Unused Boost Variants#

Nega Wisp Armor Phase 2 (Boosting)#

bgm_boss_lastboss2_fx_wav The used version is named bgm_boss_lastboss_2_fx_wav, suggesting this file was left in the game by mistake. This depicts an earlier version of the song with simpler instrumentation.

Terminal Velocity Act 3 (Boosting)#

bgm_stg730_elv_fx_wav Despite the filename, it appears to depict an earlier version of Terminal Velocity Act 1 with the following differences:

  • The lead guitar appears to have been rerecorded.
  • The guitar notes at 1:04 and 1:14 are just repeated from earlier in the song.
  • The synth lead is much louder.
  • The synth melody is different at 0:53.
  • There is no guitar riff in the background at 1:17
  • The piano chords are much louder.

This arrangement is used in Game Land and the DS version (with the DS version being slightly closer to the final), giving credence to the theory that this depicts an earlier version of Act 1. The track for Act 2 is also based on this early arrangement. Whether or not the developers intended to have an Act 3 or if this is just a copy and paste error has been completely lost to time.
