This game/console's online features are no longer supported. |
The tenth entry of the long-running rhythm game series, pop'n music 10 features a magic/wish theme and a similarly wish-themed unlocking system, which brought many songs and characters requested by fans months prior, including home version transplants, Animelo licenses, the 2 in pop'n music 2 's logo, and DDR.
Also, Votum stellarum.
Unused Song Leftovers#
Touch and Minashigo Hutch, two licensed songs from pop'n music 8 that were removed from the previous game but that remained unused, still have some data here, including graphics and songlist slot code. However, the audio and chart data no longer exist within the HDD and, as such, attempting to load these songs' numeric IDs will cause a read error. The listed offsets for the text data take in consideration the game's executable.
Touch#
Touch's associated character, a version of Mimi, was made unlockable in this game, and, therefore, is no longer unused.

Portraits#
This unique portrait for a scrapped licensed song that had Mimi as its character can be found unused. The graphic would persist in the data until pop'n music 16 PARTY, after which it was removed. In later games, this portrait is given the ID "fushigi", which could refer to TBS game show Sekai fushigi hakken!.
Sprites#
Both palettes of the character HOT.D [10] contain placeholder win and lose sprites.
Early Small Banners#
These early graphics for the small banners seen in the song selection and course selection screens are 16bpp RGBA5551, rather than 8bpp and taking from an external 256-color palette.

Aside from the color differences, differences are noted in three of the graphics:

The songwheel genre is written in hiragana (いいとも) rather than katakana (イイトモ). |

EX Course Background#
While the sprite sheets for the course selection menu have a background for EX difficulty courses, the only course that exclusively uses this difficulty (HELL10) does not display it.
pop'n music 9 Credits#
The staff roll graphics from the previous game can still be found unused here.

Unused Charts#
Of the songs new to pop'n music 10, five have discrepancies within chart slots that are never seen or called by the game. Furthermore, all charts that were unused in the previous game can still be found unused here, but the numeric IDs are different.
Let's go!! Rider kick#
This song slot has an unused EX chart. Surface-wise, it is a copy of the used HYPER, but the second verse and chorus sections are completely empty. To re-enable this chart, alongside giving it the same rating as HYPER, apply the following pnach patches:
patchExtended=1,EE,352ab0,word,00304600,00244600
patchExtended=1,EE,352abc,word,130a1714,130a0014
murmur twins(guitar pop ver.) [EX]#
This song slot contains a slightly early version of the EX chart, though the only difference is that the background music parameter is set to 05 instead of 04.
Yabai onna [HYPER]#
This song slot contains an alternate version of the NORMAL chart. While the notes are the same as to what is used, there are many background keysounds to accomodate the HYPER sound source. To replace the existing NORMAL chart with this unused variant, apply the following pnach patch:
patchExtended=1,EE,3537b0,word,01af01af,01af01ae
Taiyou ga mitsumeteru [HYPER/EX]#
This song slot contains an early version of the EX chart. The only difference is that there's an additional 2+8 press at measure 57, the very end of the song.
To replace the NORMAL chart with this unused chart, apply the following pnach patch:
patchExtended=1,EE,3509d8,word,01bd01bd,01bd00f1
Votum stellarum [HYPER/EX]#
Watch on YouTubeThis song slot contains an early version of the NORMAL chart, with 513 notes. It is generally harder during most of the song, but the outro is easier. To replace the existing NORMAL chart with the unused variant, apply the following pnach patch:
patchExtended=1,EE,3534e0,word,01c001c0,01c001a1
