Pinball FX Midnight is focused around original and licensed horror-themed tables. The game was created due in part to the fact that these tables were gory and violent enough that, if added to FX, they would've bumped that game's ESRB rating from Teen to Mature. Hence, this spinoff, which was launched as Pinball M to play off of the age rating.
The game was rebranded to its current title in April 2026, with the apparent goal of streamlining the series.
