Specifically: Wii U Virtual Console version has a single patch file in /content/Patch/UNOBE1.728 called "Laser.rpt". Figure out what change it makes since I've never played this game.

Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber is one of the rare breed of Nintendo 64 role-playing games, since Square decided to abandon this system. It is often considered one of the best in the series.

Sound Test#

Unused Music#

According to the notes in the OST, soundtest BGMs 18, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46, 47, and 56 are unused in the game.

Unused Classes#

There are three classes which never appear in the game. These are as follows:

Giant#

A very unfinished class. It has no proper stats or sprites, instead using the back sprite of the witch at the Alter of Resurrection and trying to use it in battle crashes the game. Using a Champion Statuette to level it up reveals that its level up data points to garbage data resulting in gains by the hundreds compared to the single digit gains of every other class in the game.

Lycanthrope#

This is the class of the messenger you occasionally see in some cutscenes. Even though he never fights, his class is fully functional and can be used in battle, although you cannot change its equipment.

Werewolf#

The werewolf form of the above, which is interestingly coded as a separate class and never changes into a human form, unlike Biske, the only Werewolf in the game and changes his form depending on the time of day. As above, he is fully functional in battle, even though he is missing any equipment.

Oddities#

Watch on YouTubeIn the US version there are some Japanese text that for whatever reason were left untranslated.
