Mystery Case Files: Escape From Ravenhearst is the eighth in the series, and the third in the Ravenhearst saga. In this entry, the Master Detective returns to the charred remains of Ravenhearst Manor, gets trapped underground by Charles Dalimar, and is forced to experience his (frankly terrible) life first-hand, via some extremely elaborate mockups.
This game is notorious for removing the series staple hidden-object puzzles and replacing them with morphing-object puzzles, which were previously only relegated to bonus content. It's also much darker than previous entries, which in turn made it the first MCF game to be sold with a content warning.

Unused Locations#

The location files for the Blackpool Temperance Hospital's morgue have two unused scenes connected to it.

Sink Vignette#

An obviously unfinished location, seemingly composed of concept art. This is set up to be used as a close-up scene. The final game doesn't let you inspect the sink directly; however, a morphing-object puzzle does have the sink partially in view.

Tag Vignette#

MCF-EscapeFromRavenhearst_TagVignette.png
Another close-up scene, but much more complete than the previous location: a sixth mannequin and toe tag, with the cause of death listed as "Soda & Pop Rocks". Unlike the other toe tags found in this location, the name and height are scratched out.

Unused Text#

Empty Lighthouse Stove#

<LighthouseInterior.inspectEmptyStoveString type="string">The ancient burner appears to be void of fuel.</LighthouseInterior.inspectEmptyStoveString>

At one point, it seems the stove in the lighthouse wouldn't have had any firewood in it. Where the wood might have been found isn't known.

Unused Inventory Item Names#

<Inventory.Debug type="string">Debug Item</Inventory.Debug>

Text for a debug item, whatever that is. It's unknown what this might've done.

<Inventory.Firewood type="string">Firewood</Inventory.Firewood>

There's no firewood item in the game, but this was probably related to the above unused text for the lighthouse.

<Inventory.MagnetWithTwine type="string">Magnet With Twine</Inventory.MagnetWithTwine>

There is no Magnet with Twine item; when attempting to collect the lighthouse key, you do use the twine on the magnet, but it doesn't add anything to the inventory.

Debug Console#

Console.swf is what appears to be a debugging console. Unfortunately, there is currently no known way to access it.
