Monster Rancher 2 goes a less linear route and even requires the player to have certain discs of varying rarity to unlock certain parts of the game.
Sub-Page#
Unused Graphics#
In the game are sprites of the characters in a funeral outfit for when your monster dies. Binto and Kavaro have an funeral variant, but they are never shown.

There's an item you can pick up during the Kawrea expedition called the God Slate, and it's actually the entire reason why you take the expedition in the first place. While in-game it does absolutely nothing, there's remnants in the game's data for it to cause an invitational tournament to appear that pits you against an incredibly powerful Moo. Unfortunately, other than the battle itself, the rest of the event remains nonfunctional.
While the fight is programmed into the Japanese version, it was taken out of the international releases. It was brought back in all versions of Monster Rancher 1+2 DX, and the Moo was even given the nickname "Muu" when fought, since it's based on the original Japanese PSX release, but the battle still goes unused even there.
In the Hackrom (Hard Mode) the fight against Moo replaced "Poritoka" in the Legend Cup Tournament.

Regional Differences#
- The European version of the game is called Monster Rancher because the original game was never released.
- The PocketStation function is disabled in the international versions, but the rewards items are still present.
- In the European version, the monsters Magic Bajarl, GentleMocchi, Scribble, Disc Niton and Golden Suezo are available via the CD Shrine, while in the North American and Japanese versions, Magic Bajarl, Scribble and Disc Niton need a save file from the original game to summon in the Shrine, while GentleMocchi was supposed to be a reward with the PocketStation, and Golden Suezo necistates combining Silver Suezo and Bronze Suezo in the Lab.
- In the Japanese version, the Monster "Kato" has a smoke pipe, which is censored in the international versions. This was restored in Monster Rancher 1&2 DX as the Japanese version was used as a base.
