Unused Maps#
A test map under the name "map00", its layout appears to be different between the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch versions. Watch on YouTubeOn the Nintendo 3DS, it appears as a large map to set various stage elements, among them:
- A set of "ladders" of various length.
- A small slope, which is not seen anywhere in the game (note: air-dashing into the slope will cancel the dash opposite to dashing into a wall. This is because despite of the slant it's still considered as "floor".)
- Surrounded by the slopes there's a small block of ice to test slippery surfaces.
- A set of ropes which the player automatically clings onto alongside to some insta-death spikes, red ropes will move the player to the right, green ropes move the player to the left.
- A small underpass with spikes on the ceiling, it can be entered from above through a thin platform by pressing Jump + Down.
- On the next room there's a hallway covered in ice with spikes on the ceiling, followed by a ladder. The upper part of the room features some platforms which allow the player to peek into a level junction.
- On the upper room, on the right side there's an opening to another, empty room. Resembles one of the many optional rooms with hidden treasure. The left side appears to be an invisible wall.
- One the upper room there's a long stretch involving insta-death spikes and some platforms.
- The final room is a pool of water meant to test bouyancy physics. Amusingly, the "water" tiles are labelled as such in Japanese ("水").
Watch on YouTubeOn the Nintendo Switch, it appears to be made to test the rope mechanic over bottomless pits with most of its layout resembling that of the Radio Tower stage. Seemingly impossible to complete for any character without multiple jumps as their Aerial Action. This version of map00 is also present in the PC version.
Oddities#
RAY's Broken Air Tackle Normal#
Player RAY |
Boss RAY |
|---|---|
Weirdly, RAY's normal Map is oddly broken when doing her Air Tackle, in which has inconsistent lighting (It's noticeable when you're in the hidden dark area of Teseo Fortress 1). Her Boss version normals are fixed.
Unseen Sprites#
Unseen "Doppelgänger" Sprites#
The clones in the game are fully sheeted, but these sprites are unseen by normal means (As the clone can't do the players actions during there fight as they're similar to Beck & GV boss fights) Possibly at one point they were meant to be an alternate skin, akin to Call?

Unused graphics#
Ladder Top shoot#
All 9 characters have Ladder Top shoot animations that aren't used any point you reach the top of a ladder.

Beck Powering-up#
Beck has an unused Power-up sprites that goes unused, but his Clone would use it during its boss fight.

Unused Pixel Sticker#
There is a unused Pixel Sticker that exists in the game files, this pixel sticker would be recycled for Joule's DLC Pixel Stickers.

Platform Differences#
- The Nintendo 3DS version displays the game's logo at the bottom screen at all times with no actual touch functionality or gameplay purpose.
- The Nintendo 3DS version is the only one to lack Tenzou as a playable character, likely because his "Doki Doki Mode" special attack is controller through a second stick.
- The Nintendo 3DS version is the only version to still only allow up to 8 usable save slots after the version 1.3 update.
- On the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam version, light will bounce off and highlight depth and detail on characters and objects dynamically, these effects are missing in the 3DS version.
- In the PC port, these effects does not render for AMD graphics cards, however, running the game through DXVK (a DirectX-to-Vulkan translation layer) appears to fix this.

|---|---|
- The PlayStation 4 version was rebranded as "Gal*Gunvolt Burst", once again to coincide with the release of a new Gal*Gun title (in this case, Gal*Gun 2).

|
To do: |
- The "Dowsing" module (which relies on HD Rumble to reveal the location of hidden upgrades) is only available on the Nintendo Switch version of the game, excluding even those which support haptic feedback as well.
- Additionally, after version 1.4.2, Nintendo Switch Lite users will be warned about the limited use of the Dowsing.
Nintendo Switch |
Nintendo 3DS/PlayStation 4/Steam |
|---|---|
- The Playstation 4 and Steam versions include Ekoro as a playable character by default. Additionally, its DLC characters are sold in packs of 3 ("Rivals" and "Heroines") rather than individually.
- The Inti Creates Gold Archive Collection version has all the games DLC Characters pre-installed from the start.

- The Azure Striker Gunvolt characters Joule and Copen are changed to their Japanese names, being Cyan & Acura respectively. This change has been a staple since the very first Azure Striker game.
- Also, to reflect this, the names of the SP Attacks are also changed.
- The names of the "Challenges" (in-game achievements/trophies) differ between English and Japanese, despite of the latter being in English as well.
