Anti-Piracy#

Like many of Capcom's later SNES games, this game contains a simple anti-piracy check. On bootup, the game will attempt to write to SRAM at address $306000 and if the write was successful, the game jumps to an infinite loop and thus hangs on a black screen. An original cartridge does not contain any SRAM so the write will do nothing, but cartridge copiers contain a large amount of SRAM, which triggers the anti-piracy check.

MSH OBJECT TEST MODE#

A debug menu called "MSH OBJECT TEST MODE" is buried in the game code which allows for thorough testing of the game sprites. At one time, it was available by holding the Select button, but now can only be reached by game enhancer codes.

Use the Pro Action Replay codes C0000112 + C00002B1 to enter the debug menu at boot up. Since they take effect immediately, you may need to reset the game if the codes weren't toggled on quickly enough.
