Unused Areas#

Traverse Town: Fountain Plaza#

Early

Final

TW13 contains an unfinished version of the Fountain Plaza from Traverse Town. The machine on the right that sprays out water doesn't work at all, the water doesn't have any collision when compared to the final version, and the metal lid that contains Julius is absent.

La Cité des Cloches: Court of Miracles#

Early

Final

ND20 contains a slightly early version of the Court of Miracles from La Cité des Cloches. None of the objects in the room has collision, you're unable to do flowmotion tricks besides rail-grinding, all the carriages are the same green one and pink ones for the tents, and no water effects is shown when stepping into the small river. It seems to be the same exact room seen in an unused map graphic, although there are minor differences like different colored clothing to rail-grind on.

Prankster’s Paradise: Amusement Park#

Early

Final

An early version of Prankster's Paradise's Amusement Park - seen in promotional screenshots - can be accessed; it is referred to as PI15 by map ID. There are numerous differences compared with the final map design:

  • Most colored sections of the ground are gone, leaving uniform brickwork.
  • There is a large white tent in the north based on the Rough House from the original film, albeit without the model thug statue.
  • The roller coaster has two loops. They cannot be rail-grinded through; the player automatically jumps off when grinding before the upside down sections.
  • The exit to Windup Way is on the north-right of the map instead of the center-north.
  • The red tower is moved to the west, and the north-western area is expanded. The tower's top cannot be stood on, due to an invisible collision dome in the way.
  • The carousel, Rough House, and blue tent are positioned where the blue tower, blue tent, and carousel are in the final game, respectfully.
  • The roller coaster, flag banners, and trees are rearranged to account for the layout changes.
  • The blue tower lacks a standable rim, making it look more accurate to its appearance in the film.
  • There are no paint splatters on the walls. Its texture area shares space with the paper on the wall, but the area where the paint would be is empty.
  • The clown head's texture size is 128 x 128, as opposed to 256 x 256 in the final map.
  • The bouncy tents to launch you to higher places are gone.
  • The underside of the carousel's top is lit up.
  • The center bridge's railings are slightly higher.
  • Distance fog was increased.
  • Flowmotion cannot be used on the lampposts.
  • The clown head, carousel, and ferris wheel aren't animated.
  • The edges of the roller coaster, roller coaster supports, carousel horses, ferris wheel seats, and the fence between the ferris wheel and expanded north-west section lack collision.
  • The map's border collision can be wall-jumped on repeatedly, to the point where you can get out of bounds.
  • The skybox has less stars, lacks clouds and the moon.
  • The pennant flag banners can actually be flowmotion upon unlike the ones used in the map that's used. With the way they're placed, it seems like the original intention was to use them to quickly get onto the roller coaster.

Radiant Garden: Castle Doors#

An area outright lifted from Birth by Sleep that's referred as "Castle Doors" by the menu and RG04 by its map ID. No music can be heard, although a blowing wind sound effect plays here. Radiant Garden and its maps are purely used for cutscenes in Dream Drop Distance, so it's likely that this map was originally planned to contain a cutscene, possibly for when Lea returns to Radiant Garden during the secret ending.

Treasure Planet & The RLS Legacy#

Within MAP.RBIN exists a world known as "TP", which has eleven rooms assigned to it. Ten of them are the same debug/placeholder room, but one of them, TP_01, is the top part of the RLS Legacy, the ship from the animated film Treasure Planet. Given its unfinished nature, it's possible that a world based on that movie was planned but ultimately scrapped for undisclosed reasons.

Country of the Musketeers: Tower#

Early

Final

TM18 contains a slightly early version of the Tower from Country of the Musketeers. While having the same exact environment when compared to the one that's used in-game, it has a different camera angle by being closer to the player and having different enemies at the entrance. Instead of having one Kooma Panda, two Sir Kyroos, and two KO Kabutos, TM18 has two Kooma Pandas, one Me Me Bunny, and four Sir Kyroos. Also unlike the rest of unused rooms, this one was removed from the files of the HD remaster.

Debug/Placeholder Room#

A large grey room with four doors on each end, largely resembling the ones seen in Re:Chain of Memories and Re:coded. The room doesn't have proper lighting, so Sora (or Riku) and the Dream Eaters will appear overly bright. The doors do not lead anywhere but touching them will bring the framerate to single digits due to having an extremely high polygon count, which the game cannot handle very well. There are also multiple copies of this room in the world of Symphony of Sorcery via FA04, FA08, FA12, and in The Grid via TL03, which are leftover remnants of when the game was supposed to have Space Paranoids and Fantasia 2000. As mentioned above, these rooms also exist as placeholders for the scrapped Treasure Planet world in TP_02 to TP_11.
