Athletic World is the first of only two games in Bandai's Family Fun Fitness (originally known as Family Trainer in Japan) series released in North America and Europe. Notably, this is the very first third-party game to be released in Europe.
In addition to its release in July 1987 for the Family Fun Fitness, Bandai also released the game in North America for the Power Pad (Nintendo's version of the Family Fun Fitness) two years later in July 1989. The ROM is the exact same as in 1987, displaying Family Fun Fitness in the title screen despite being released for the Power Pad.
Unused Text#
After you complete the 5 events, the game grades your performance and depending on your score, a message will be displayed. The messages are stored in sequential order, and there's a 5th message that's never seen no matter the score you receive. You are supposed to get this if you score really low, probably 20 points or less.
You must train more
and try harder
Regional Differences#
The European version of the game is the same as the North American version except the music is played at the same speed as NTSC when in PAL format.

Except for the obvious changes to the title and Japanese to English texts, the layout of the grass and wooden archway below the title logo has also been moved upwards to accommodate the expanded copyright information, the grass graphic is also unique to the Japanese version.
