Day of the Tentacle Remastered

Unused Item Graphics#

There are a couple of item graphics that remain unused from the original game, but which have now been remastered along with the rest of the graphics.

Noose#

The unused rope as an inventory icon... ...and again, as a cursor icon.

This seems to be intended for when Bernard ties the Rope around Ted's neck outside the front of the motel, which is the only usable non-inventory item that doesn't display an icon. The noose shape Bernard ties it into is strikingly similar to this icon, except the Rope in the icon is brown and not white. Like other usable non-inventory icons, it has no colored background.

Diamond#

The elusive diamond as an inventory icon... ...and again, as a cursor icon.

As soon as the player receives the diamond, the game immediately cuts to a scene where it is being placed in the time machine, so it never shows up in your inventory.

Battery in Kite Pocket#

The pocketed battery as an inventory icon... ...and again, as a cursor icon.

This appears to be the Battery as it would appear when it's in the Kite Pocket. In-game the Battery simply disappears from the player's inventory and is shown in the Pocket of the Kite icon itself.

Unused Text#

Monkey Island 2 Special Edition Leftovers#

For whatever reason, all the text from Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge is present, spread between the files en.uitext.info and en.speech.info inside the file tenta.cle. This even includes the entire developer commentary.

Unused Room Names#

The game includes names for all but one of the rooms (the inventory), which are displayed on the save/load game screen. This said, the game doesn't allow the player to save during cutscenes, so a number of these go unused. Additionally, some of them aren't actually rooms the player can even visit, they are just used to store animations.

There are 5 more rooms at the end of the list that are unaccounted for, as the game only has 90 rooms. They all have duplicate names of rooms that actually are in the game and are possibly used to store extra animations the remaster loads on top of the original rooms. Not all of the duplicate rooms actually have extra animations, though.
