Castle Crashers is a fun little 4-player beat-em-up starring four differently-colored knights on a quest that may involve the crashing of castles.

Later it got a remaster under the title Castle Crashers Remastered, released as a free update for the Windows version. As well as a DLC almost 16 years after launch!

Unused Levels#

Level39 (Shooter Stage)#

Level39 is a scrapped level, only thing remaining of this level is its associated text string "Shooter Stage", this id was latter overwritten with the "Insane Store" in the PS3 version and subsequent releases.

Level52#

Level52 is a scrapped level that was supposed to take place between Medusa's Lair and Full Moon according to the level checkpoint code, the map placement has it reuse the spot for Medusa's Lair. No other data is left over for this level besides a text string that might possibly be for this level "Dragon Ride".

EnemyFlyer#

A single sprite of a scrapped flying enemy is present in eflyer.pak, a file exclusive to the Xbox 360 release.

Shark#

This animation of a shark eating a deer was supposed to play in the Catfish level, but doesn't. Multiple other bloody elements of the game were removed at the request of the ESRB, so it's possible this was another casualty of the censorship.1

Debug#

There is a secret debug font in the game files, making accessing the debug option very difficult. Debugfont14_0.png

Unused Audio#

The intro for the track Revenge of the Cyclops is never played in game, instead the track starts with a roar or elevator lift depending on which boss is fought. An unused voice line for the Painter Boss, "Achievement Unlocked: You are a failure".
