It's up to you. The one I like best is the Fawcett package. It has the most harpoons and sets of clothing. |

They're all OK with me. But my favorite is the McIntyre. It has the most machetes and trading packets. |
It's your choice. But if I were you, I'd get the Mendes package. It has the most tents and first aid kits. |
The Jaguar has lines indicating he would've advised you against leaving a landmark before completing the tasks there, but in the final game none of them play and you just return to the river without a word.

There are also a handful of unused Jaguar lines that are quite similar to some of his dialogue from the first Amazon Trail game:
The Blue Mist Bla, Bla, Bla
We have passed through the blue mist to another time and place.
The blue mist has taken us to another time and place.
The blue mist has transported us to another time and another place.
Remember: The river has its own time.
Remember: Many things in the rainforest remain to be discovered.
Remember: The Amazon is many rivers: a spider web of water flowing slowly to the ocean.
Remember: The first explorers of the Amazon were the Indians.
Remember: The river has many names: the great speaker, the big tangle, the watery maze....
Remember: The real dangers are the fears we carry in our minds.
Remember: Your mission is to learn all that you can, and to get to Vilcabamba.
These lines mostly match that of the final cutscene with the Ancient Ones (which doesn't have subtitles like this in the final game), but some extra dialogue that isn't in the used cutscene is included (highlighted in blue here).
ANCIENT WOMAN: You have had a long and successful journey. We have been watching you. Because of all that you have accomplished, we are letting you into our home. This is the heart of the world. |
ANCIENT MAN: We have lived here by ourselves for many generations. Here, at the heart, we have been protecting the world, keeping it in balance. But for too long now, other people have been heating up the world by cutting down the trees and digging minerals out of the ground. You have seen this on your journey. |
ANCIENT WOMAN: If we cut off our arms, we can't work. If we cut out our tongues, we can't talk. If we cut off our legs, we can't walk. That is how it is with the earth. |
ANCIENT MAN: We Ancient Ones do not cut down the trees that grow by rivers; we know that they protect the water. We do not cut down huge areas of forest; we cut small clearings for our fields. We know that for every thing that is taken from the earth, something must be given back. We are still here and we haven't forgotten anything. |
ANCIENT WOMAN: We can see what is happening. Some say that the earth will end. It does not have to be that way. But we Ancient Ones can no longer protect the world by ourselves. We need your help. |
ANCIENT MAN: The Jaguar will return you now to your home. Take with you what you have learned about the river and the forest. Share your knowledge of the birds and the animals; of the plants and the people; of the connections between all things. Share your love of the earth with those who have forgotten. |

Comparing the names here with the in-game credits, "Sue" could be either Sue L. Minor (credited as Help Editor and one of the Testing Staff) or Susan M. Gabrys (credited as a Programmer), while "Devaun" is probably Devaun Ferguson (credited as Lead Programmer and as part of the Design Team).

Unused Item#
From its name and description, the Gati-ma-nya was likely meant as one of the medicinal plants that Kremuro can give you at the second landmark, but none of the three possible item sets from him include it and he doesn't have a dialogue line for explaining its use like he does for the other plants.
Revisional Differences#
The version of the game that was offered as a promotional item in General Mills cereal boxes, referred to as version 1.1 in the manual, was bundled in with other software (such as a Merriam-Webster dictionary and an ad for the internet provider Lightdog), so all movie files related to the guides Miguel and Rosa were removed to save disc space. While they can't be selected as your guide by standard means in 1.1, loading a save that's already set to have one of them (either by importing it from a 1.0 game or by hex-editing the save file directly) reveals that all other data associated with them is still present and works as normal.
