'This page or section details content from the2011 Terraria Prototypes Leak.''' |
This prototype of Terraria is the earliest of the two prototypes leaked on 4chan and the earliest known build of Terraria overall. Judging by the 1.0 release notes, this version appears to be version 0.1.
Differences#
|
|
This needs some investigation. |
There are only 26 items in this build.
UI#
- There is no "Save and Quit" button, the player must close the window to exit.
- The hotbar and inventory slots are a square-shaped stone outline, similar to Minecraft.
- The hotbar slots are hollow when the inventory is closed.
- The armor slots and hearts are placed closer to the inventory.
- There are no accessory slots.
- There is no hover text on the items.
- There is no pickup text.
- There are no damage or health numbers.
- There are no labels.
- The text has no outlines but already has the glowing effect.
- Crafting requirements can display incorrectly.
- Pressing Left Alt, or Right Alt + Enter will toggle fullscreen mode.
Graphics#
- There are no clouds.
- The cursor is gray and does not glow.
- The player's graphics are similar to the April 26, 2011 build but with all of the details baked into the textures.
Audio#
- There is no music.
World Generation#
- Extremely basic and crude, only featuring the Underground and Forest biomes.
- No walls are placed in the world.
- The only sprites that exist are trees, grass, and mushrooms.
Gameplay#
- The game starts directly in a randomly generated world.
- The player is named "Some n00b".
- The player is given one of two random hair styles.
- The player has 10 defense by default.
- The starting tools are a Copper Pickaxe, Copper Axe and Copper Hammer.
- The player starts with the 4 clothing items exclusive to this build.
- The player will drop all items that are not equipped or in the hotbar upon death.
- There is no fall damage.
- Nothing relating to mana exists in this build.
- The only NPCs present are slimes in the green, blue, red, yellow and purple varieties.
- They spawn randomly near the player in all biomes.
- The code that handles their neutral behavior has not been coded yet, so they are always hostile.
- They will spawn during nighttime.
- Damage is calculated differently in this build.
- Only 10% of defense is used to reduce incoming damage rather than 50%.
- There is no check that prevents damage from being less than 1.
- Wood can only be used for crafting; it cannot be placed.
- The default spawn rate is the same as the final release (700), unlike the April 26, 2011 build.
- The player can close doors while standing in between them.
- Moving too close to the world edges will crash the game.
- There is no healing cooldown.
- Grass seeds do not exist in this build.
- Fallen stars do not exist in this build.
- Enemies do not despawn when offscreen.
- This is the only known build to have the following 4 clothing items.

All crafting recipes are done by hand in this build.
Notes:
- The last field of each table indicates the total output of the recipe.
- A red line between two ingredients means either one can be used, not that both need to be used.
