'This page or section details content from the2011 Terraria Prototypes Leak.''' |
The April 26, 2011 prototype of Terraria is the later of the two prototypes leaked on 4chan before the game officially released. It post-dates the official gameplay trailer by only 8 days. This is likely version 0.7 judging by the release notes.
Differences#
Only 193 items are present, far below the 234 items present in the final release.
UI#
- There is no splash screen.
- The game only has three window titles instead of five.
- Pressing F shows an FPS counter, this was changed to F10 in the final release.
- There is no copyright information on the title screen.
- The parallax and controls options have not yet been added.
- The world size selection gives a (hard-coded) estimate on how large the world file will be.
World Generation#
- World generation is similar to the final release but still has many differences.
- There are no Jungle Chests.
- There are no Ruined Houses in the Underworld.
- There is a slightly higher chance that small caves will generate will lava.
- The game generates 50% less Demon Altars.
- The game generates 20% less Life Crystals.
- The game generates 16.67% less underground chests.
- The game generates 12.5% less breakables, however, because of other coding changes with how breakables are generated, the game only generates around 3% less breakables.
Gameplay#
- The clothing items from the Pre-Alpha have been removed and their IDs replaced by the informational accessories.
- The player's death message remains as "[Player Name] was slain..." from the Pre-Alpha, this was updated to "You were slain..." in the final release.
- The key to throw items has been removed.
- The player's melee speed is not variable in any way; it remains constant throughout gameplay.
- Hooks will deal damage to enemies and retreat on impact.
- This was removed in later builds to help the player escape enemies more easily.
- Boss summoning items can be rather difficult to obtain as Demon Altars may not generate in the world at all.
- The player will instantly die on use if their summon requirements are not met (the item will also get consumed).
- There is no criteria for a Blood Moon to happen, thus allowing one to happen on the very first night.
- There is no code or checks for the Eye of Cthulhu to spawn naturally.
- The Thorn Chakrum[sic], Blade of Grass and Ivy Whip cannot be crafted; they are dropped by Hornets and Man Eaters respectively.
- The game will only check for 250 dungeon bricks near you to consider you in a Dungeon biome, the final release will also check if the player is standing behind dungeon walls.
- Bosses will drop a Life Crystal upon defeat, this is likely a reference to the Legend of Zelda series.
Audio#
- The Goblin Invasion event does not play any music.
- Female hurt sounds are not present.
- The jungle soundtrack is not present.
- The sound will keep playing after clicking out of the window.
Crafting Recipes#
- The last field indicates the total output of the recipe and the crafting station required to make the item.

Nurse |
Dear friends we are gathered here today to bid farewell... oh, you'll be fine. |

Nurse |
Bend over and grab your ankles. |
This line was removed by the final release. |

Dryad |
Have you seen that old man walk around the temp? He doesn't look well at all... |
Have you seen the old man walking around the dungeon? He doesn't look well at all... |
The first sentence was slightly reworded. The dungeon is known as the "temp" here, likely as a placeholder. |
Dryad |
The sands of time are flowing. And well, you are not aging very gracefully. |
||
Dryad |
What's this about me having more 'bark' than bite? |
||
Dryad |
So two goblins walk into a bar, and one says to the other, 'Want to get a Goblet of beer?!' |
||
Guide |
Demonic alters are hidden all over the world. You will need to be near them to craft some items. |
Demonic alters can usually be found in the corruption. You will need to be near them to craft some items. |
This line was changed to be more accurate, as Demon Altars are mostly found in the corruption. |
Guide |
You should stay indoors at night. It is very dangerous to be wondering around in the dark. |

Fixed "wandering" to "wondering". |
Guide |
They say there is a person who will tell you how to survive in this land... oh wait. That's me. |

Demolitionist |
It's a good day to die! |
||
Demolitionist |
I wonder what happens if I... (BOOM!)... Oh, sorry, did you need that leg? |
||
Demolitionist |
Dynamite, my own special cure-all for what ails ya. |
Hidden Features#
These features can only be accessed by hacking.
Debug Mode#
The "debugMode" flag includes an updated debug mode.
- Holding down Left Click instantly mines whatever block is under the cursor.
- Right Click teleports the player to the cursor.
- The camera stops following the player and is now manually controlled by the Arrow Keys.
- The cursor will now emit light at its position.
The "godMode" and "dumbAI" booleans from the Pre-Alpha are also carried over to this build (and the final release).
Miscellaneous#
The game's assembly attributes have been updated and now match the final release. Oddly, the game crediting "Teh Gamez" instead of Re-Logic was not fixed in the final release.
