This is a sub-page of Proto:PlayStation Vita.

Careful, you'll lose an eye.

This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.
Specifically: Rip app icons and LiveArea graphics. Use the Olebeck site I linked to in the main proto page.

This firmware is more complete than 0.990, and much closer to the final release.

Differences#

  • The console's wordmark is displayed during startup.
  • The EULA is a placeholder.
  • The Settings app icon and LiveArea graphic are still silver from the last prototype.
  • Music's graphics are a LOT more pink than purple in this prototype.

Lock Screen#

This firmware uses a lock screen that resembles the final more.

Hidden Developer Message#

Present at 0x00007630 in secure_kernel.enc/secure_kernel.enp:

Congratulations! At last you get the plaintext of the PS Vita Secure Kernel!
I'm confident that you never see this message though, ha-ha.

The last sentence was removed somewhere between firmware versions 0.996.090 and 1.000.071.
