"ROAD_TRIP_NARRATIVE_SUMMARY_M1ROADTRIP_3": "Our little buddy Spikeweed says "Don't Tread On Me!" Well, he doesn't really say it, but it's heavily implied. Too bad zombies are terrible with subtext. <b>Plant Spikeweed in front of Wall-nut to lay a prickly trap!</b> <br>Spikeweed hybrids are inherently spiky. Go figure...",
"ROAD_TRIP_NARRATIVE_SUMMARY_M1ROADTRIP_4": "Fyre in the hole! Potato Mines have eruptive personalities, but they take a while to get ready. Don't worry Potato Mine, you look fabulous. Can we please go blow-up some zombies already? <br><b>Merging Potato Mines with other plant types unlocks an arsenal of explosive allies!</b>",
"ROAD_TRIP_NARRATIVE_SUMMARY_M1ROADTRIP_5": "Now that we've got a full roster, try to make as many freaky-deaky plantastic hybrid mash-ups as possible! <br>Have you made an Endurian yet? "ROAD_TRIP_NARRATIVE_SUMMARY_M1ROADTRIP_7": "Why go <i>through</i> a door when you could go <i>over-the-top</i> instead? Generally, this would be really bad advice - but in this situation, it's totally applicable! <br>Leafy Lesson: Cabbage-pults can lob direct hits onto opponents holding shields...",
"ROAD_TRIP_NARRATIVE_SUMMARY_M1ROADTRIP_8": "Your team is absolutely crushing these missions! You know what they say... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Crazy Dave disagrees. It's a whole salad-bar of skyborne suffering!</b>",

"ROAD_TRIP_NARRATIVE_SUMMARY_M1ROADTRIP_13": "Those puddles are so invigorating! Plants are lining up around the block to dip their roots in that high-quality H20... Zomboss and his stank-nasty henchmen should try dunking their derrieres in some clean water too - but they won't.",
"ROAD_TRIP_NARRATIVE_SUMMARY_M1ROADTRIP_14": "Dave's sentient lawnmower <b>MO</b> is our last line of defense - but he can only be deployed once per level. It's not that he doesn't <i>want</i> to mulch more zombies... it just takes a while to clean all those zombits out of his teeth.",
"ROAD_TRIP_NARRATIVE_SUMMARY_M1ROADTRIP_15": "I think the zombies are on their last legs! Say, what's that rumbling sound? Hopefully they're rolling in a big heavy cake that says "We Surrender" on it... <br><b>When facing super-tough zombie units, try to fill up their lane with plants as fast as you can!</b>",

There is also a few text strings for the tutorial, where you are told to make a Lychee in level 3 and a Golden Yukon in level 4.

"TUTORIAL_M1_LEVEL1_DAVE1": "<i>GRRROPPLE-DOPPLE-HURRRRRGGAH</i> howdy neighbor, I'm Crazy Dave. Welcome to Neighborville!",
"TUTORIAL_M1_LEVEL1_DAVE2": "My zombie-alert-system is going wild... we'd better get ready to defend our turf!",

Road Trip 1#

Road Trip 1 is the second test road trip made after M1 Road Trip, and it features many more tutorial strings similar to old versions of PvZ3 where levels would exist to explain a new plant or zombie. These tutorial texts suggest that more fusions would be unlocked as you play instead of most fusions needing seeds to be unlocked.

"ROAD_TRIP_TEASER_M2ROADTRIP_02": "Bad news, neighbor. The forecast calls for zombies with a 100% chance of terror - but a sudden rain storm could be a game changer. Tap in to the envigorating power of puddles and unlock a host of happy sun-producing hybrids! Bring the thunder with all-new explosive hybrids! You know what smells worse than zombies? Wet zombies!",
"ROAD_TRIP_TEASER_M2ROADTRIP_03": "The battle for Dave's lawn rages on... and Dr. Zomboss still has a sneaky trick or two up his sleeve. "ROAD_TRIP_TEASER_M2ROADTRIP_04": "Dr. Zomboss is on the run! He must be headed back to his evil lair, hidden deep inside the molten core of an active volcano! Zombie hunters beware: this is uncharted terrain full of flame-wielding fiends. A frigid bushel of freezing plants will be the key to reaching the summit. With Mt. Zarella spewing molten cheese, a clan of overhead unmbrella plants are all that stand between our heroes and a sudden scorching from the skies above!",
"ROAD_TRIP_TEASER_M2ROADTRIP_05": "Hot enough for ya? The mercury's rising - keep climbing with the help of a cool gang of chill hybrids. How cool are they? Too cool for school, THAT'S for sure. M2RoadTrip_Level0031_Volcano_5x12#

A leftover level from this early adventure exists, being the 31st stage of it. It is a volcano level with no grid objects or board mechanics featuring Basic Volcano Zombies, Volcano Coneheads, Volcano Bucketheads, and Rock'n'Rollin' Imps and it has 2 flags. Interestingly this level manually sets your starting sun to 300, something that is automatically done in every level in the final version of this build. Coins are also disabled, meaning you get no coins for beating the level.

Patrice:
Call the flying fog-vacuum, Uncle Dave! We have to find Nate before Dr. Zomboss turns his brain into a snack!

Dave:
Rrrrrodge-podddge, Patrice!

(A cutscene where the fog is removed is played)

Patrice:
Yikes! Principal Grady would choke on her wig if she saw this mess. But no sign of Nate...

Dave:
Oh flipp-dibbett... My vertigo is acting up, Patrice... How are we going to get down from here?

Patrice:
Look at that flagpole - let's jump up there and slide down it! I saw some plumbers do it, and it looked pretty cool.

Patrice:
I'll try to grab that ugly Zomboss flag on the way down... wish me luck!

Dave:
Do we have to slide down this funklorrrple pole? Can't I just lie down, aim for that bush, roll and hope for the best?

Patrice:
Don't be a baby! You can do it, just don't look down. Look at this!

Patrice goes down with great ease! Dave, not so much...

Patrice:
WOOOO! That was awesome!!! Now it's your turn, Uncle Dave!

Patrice:
Uncle Dave? Where did you go?

Dave:
GLAB-NABBINS!!! It wasn't a bush, just a pile of textbooks under a green tarp.

Patrice:
Nice move. Come on, we need to split up and find Nate!

Area Concepts#

No build of PvZ3 is complete without concept art for the world map! This build contains a concept image of the community space, featuring rough sketches of the buildings, many Patrices, and a 3D axis in the top right corner.

Oddities#

Snow Conifer Loading Tip Error#

The loading screen tip for the Snow Conifer plant shows an incorrect recipe; it shows Jumbrella Leaf + Cold-Slaw, when the right combo is really Jumbrella Leaf + Ice-weed.
