This is a sub-page of Proto:Disney Universe.

A Wii prototype dated 5 months before the final build. It has all of the levels in an early state.

Sub-Page#

General Differences#

  • The game's Wii system menu uses 2 coins saying "DU" instead of a player in a Cheshire Cat costume. When clicking on it, the music is leftover from Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, the game's logo is not present, the background is different, and the colors of 3 players' heads are different.

Final

  • When entering the game itself, it boots to the Wii safety screen, then an early legal screen that was removed from the final and uses placeholder text, and then splash screens for Disney Interactive Studios and Eurocom (swapped and made into FMVs in the final).

To do:
Replace the FMV images with the FMVs themselves.

  • It then shows a debug level select. It contains "IP Selection" (main world levels), "Whiterooms" (test levels), "Viewer" (other test levels), and "Milestone 14" (re-sorted levels plus early main menu).
  • The game calls you "Mark" instead of "PL1".
  • You are always forced to use a Jack Sparrow costume, but if you complete Fountain of Youth, you will become a blue character without a costume, who after dying loses all animations and cannot attack.
  • Xbox 360 button prompts are used at several points.
  • There is not much music throughout the game.
  • There are no objective popups.
  • The gold looks different. The gold count was also changed.
  • The C button is used for objects instead of Z.
  • Pressing C and Z at the same time will send you into a debug freefly mode. You use the D-pad to go up and down in this mode. Pressing them again sends you back to normal.
  • Pressing 1 or the home button shows a debug menu controlled with the D-pad. You can only use it if you press the 1 button.
  • You originally used the 2 button instead of + to pause the game, but you can also use the + button here. The pause menu also looks completely different, and the options menu does not let you into the options themselves.

Prototype

Final

  • The loading screen is a splash screen without any hints from VIC and HEX.

  • Spinners are rather broken, some not doing anything if you do certain things.
  • Certain power-ups are not timed and instead require you to use them a certain amount of times to lose them.
  • Crowns are used instead of blue stars for the character upgrades. "Jack Sparrow" is also known as "Jack Sparrow's weapon" as it only upgrades that costume's weapon, while other character are just called "[character name]'s weapon".
