This is a sub-page of Prerelease:Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005).

To do:
Reorganize.

Screenshots from Magazines (February-April 2005)#

  • An earlier license plate than the ones in mid-2005 promotions can be found on the BMW screenshots. It reads "City of Rosewood" instead of "City of Rockport", implying that the entire city was once named Rosewood instead of just one district.
  • The M3 GTR's headlights had yellow covers similar to the ALMS BMW team's M3 GTRs, as opposed to the final game M3 GTR's Nurburgring-spec clear headlights.

E3 2005 Demo#

To do:

  • List more differences if anything missed in this demo.

Watch on YouTubeWatch on YouTubeWatch on YouTubeThis gameplay demo was shown at E3 2005.

  • The beginning shows the M3 GTR exiting a garage. This specific garage, located at the first S-road connecting Camden to Rosewood, is only accessible in the Alpha 124 build of Most Wanted. It was likely cut early on in development.
    • The garage was also used for splash screens.
  • The Drag HUD, Nitrous & Speedbreaker icon (also in the OPM PS2 Demo) are all very different.
  • The M3 GTR uses an engine sound taken from (ironically) a Porsche 928. Its straight-cut gearbox whine is also massively subdued, only becoming clearly audible around the 5th gear..
  • The traffic vehicles are all colored white.
  • There is a tanker truck in the video from 0:52 to 0:54, at the left of the screen.
  • The "Blown engine" popup is different.
  • The "You lost!" screen would supposedly be in photoscreen FNG.
  • The in-game font uses normal Eurostile instead of the bold used in the final.
  • The beginning of Justin's walkthrough shows a splash screen taking place somewhere in the warehouse (probably on the Docks) instead of E3 garage.

Differences, compared to OPM Demo (July 2005 Builds)#

  • Event icon was different than one that was in game files of OPM Demo build. It's similar to the final game.
  • It still has camera from E3 2005 Demo build.
  • It has North Indicator on Mini Map.
  • It has semi-transparent minimap as well as its texture which only shows the roads of the map.

Bugs#

  • Speedometer appears to have bugs

Blacklist Tournament (June 2005?)#

It should be noted that this demo (including OPM Demo) may be based on older build (possibly before the "I. C. E." footage), but with some assets and technical changes from later builds. Watch on YouTube

  • The visuals look different than in the final PS2 version.
  • The videos still have the M3 GTR using the Porsche 928 engine sound.
  • The player's face is pixelated instead of being blurred on camera.
  • The physics are still greatly similar to Underground 2's physics.
  • There was supposedly another tollbooth which was cut during very late development of the game, on the Boardwalk Park gate near the Camden water tower. It is only visible in the demo video explaining the Blacklist.
