Many things happened during the development of Mega Man 3, making the process extremely difficult. Keiji Inafune himself described the development as a very difficult and exhausting experience. Furthermore, Capcom pressured the team to release the game before they considered it truly ready, and well, the result? Simply a classic!

- April 20, 1990 - The game's release has been officially confirmed.
- September 28, 1990 - The game is released in Japan.
- November 1, 1990 - The game is released in North America.
- February 20, 1992 - The game is released in Europe.
