This is a sub-page of Prerelease:Deltarune/Concept Art.
A lot of Chapter 5's concepts date back to 2016. This chapter is also the one with the most amount of guest artists thus far.
Well, are you ready!? It's my Jarona!
Party#
Susie#
Art by Gigi D.G. of a potential date outfit for Susie. In-game, she just uses her normal clothes, and none of the options for the joke dressing sequence resemble this outfit.
Concept art by Toby of Susie checking Kris for "mites and fleas" after the bridge scene.

Kris#
Various Kris poses during Chapter 5's platforming segments, drawn by Temmie Chang.
Miscellaneous Lightners#
Pizzapants#
Concept art by Toby of Pizzapants' pointing animation during his "performance" at the festival.
Purple Guy#
Concept art by Matt Cummings / Eiffelart of Purple Guy being dunked during the festival.

The Seven Colored Flowers#
Flowery#
The first (known) concept art drawn of Flowery, by Toby Fox. This design features a different outfit, along with a neck piece made to look like a flower.
Toby describes his ideas designing the character as such:
10 years ago, everyone was misspelling “Flowey” as “Flowery” and it was driving me crazy. So I thought “wouldn’t it be funny if there was another golden flower character actually named Flowery? Then, everyone can misspell his name as Flowey, too.”
The golden flower, “Gold”, was able to become his own “Mary Sue” character in the form of “Flowery”. He’s trying to be “perfect”... But he doesn’t know anything about what it’s like to really live. His interpretation of “the ideal man” is totally alien and over-the-top. He looks like a generic anime guy and is far taller than a normal human. It’s probable he chose his own theme song and plays it himself somehow… which, by the way, is basically a crappy, misremembered version of only 8 seconds of the Full H**se theme song. And he must think this is awesome.
You can think of the other Flower characters in a similar fashion. Their designs may be strange, but that’s because they had to decide who they wanted to be for themselves. I wonder what inspired each of their “dreams”...? (It’s not really important to be honest, but it’s fun to think about.)
Hopefully none of this comes across as new information. I’m simply pointing out what was in the game.
In this, he implies all of Asgore's flowers were first named after their colors; as stated by Seth in-game.
Character reference sheet for Flowery. Drawn by Touko Yatabe, director of Flowery's intro animation. Toby says this concept art determined Flowery's outfit in the final game.
By the way, here’s some concept art from Touko Yatabe of Studio Khara for the animation! (Her early concept art for the animation determined Flowery's final outfit!)
He has different appearances in different situations. I like when characters have an inconsistent design like this. Especially for a character like him. Maybe the inconsistency is his fault.
Aqua#
Concept art for Aqua, by Toby. He says this design was "obviously" inspired by Touhou. Presumably due to sprite size limitations, the flower pattern on the back of her dress was not carried over to the final game.

Seth#
Toby's original concept art for Seth. According to Toby, they were originally going to have white hair and lavender skin, which was scrapped to reduce similarities to Amethyst from Steven Universe. Compared to their in-game sprite, the tie was originally conceived as a flower-shaped scarf/collar and a crescent moon on their robe, and appears to have an open neckline. The tie curving into a crescent shape in the equivalent sprite is a remnant of this idea.

Green#
Various pieces of Green concept art, of course by Toby. Toby states that the art style of Green is based on his friend splendidland, who did concept art for the Hacker, Ambyu-Lance, and "a couple other great guys".

Orange#
Concept art of Orange that almost entirely resembles the final sprite.
It was hard to express the joy of her expression in such a small sprite. Look at her.

Yellow#
Concept art of Yellow from October 2016, featuring a more professional-looking appearance.
More updated concept art of Yellow from January 2020, with a design inspired by Woody from Toy Story. Includes a couple of ant-sized sprites made by Toby.
Toby's commentary on this is pretty interesting:
He had two designs. In the earlier one from October 2016, he was had more of a beard and was a cool collected guy. Then, I redrew him later in January 2020. He takes some inspiration from Woody from Toy Story. He was foreshadowed a bit in Chapter 3 with some bath curtains. I think that’s kind of the full extent of the intentional cowboy foreshadowing I’ve done in my life.

Blue#
Concept art of Blue by Toby. His design is almost identical to the final's.
In the game, he has a different hairstyle during his face sprite. I thought it would be fun to provide multiple possibilities for what he looks like.

Pink#
Concept art for Pink's animated, visual-novel-inspired sprites. For some reason, this is a GIF.
This art, including Pink's overworld sprites, were made by Claire, the creator of Fields of Mistria; a game with a similar anime-inspired art style.
Also, the creator of Fields of Mistria, Claire, drew Pink’s talking sprites and basic overworld sprites for Chapter 5! She is a great friend that encouraged me immensely to complete UNDERTALE so I’m super happy I got to work with her!

Darkners#
Terakota, Shinobeetle, etc.#

Concept art of several enemies designed by Nelnal. These designs include Terakota, Shinobeetle, "mantis dancer", and "archer". The last two were never used as enemies, but instead as NPCs in a backtracking gag right outside Flower Castle's Café.
Dates can be seen at the top of a few of these, indicating when they were first designed. Shinobeetle and the mantis dancer were both designed on March 14th, 2020, while the two pottery enemies were designed in 2019.
Interestingly, Toby hints in the Summer Newsletter that the mantis dancer and the archer may be planned as enemies in future chapters:
Nelnal actually designed four enemies for this chapter. Shinobeetle, Terakota, the pot archer, and the mantis dancer. Ultimately, only two of them were used... in Chapter 5, anyway.
Netskie#
Concept art of Netskie, designed by Hitoshi Ariga. Ariga is known for his work on Pokémon, Illusion of Gaia, and Rockman Megamix.
This early design depicts Netskie with a more natural, tree-like palette. This was later changed to the final, more fox-colored palette by Toby; though it is very likely they are still tree-esque in the final game.

Miscellaneous Concept Art#
Concept art of the Cliffs by Temmie, drawn in 2019. This art includes a staircase area looking similar to an area seen in Chapter 4.
Concept art by Gigi from 2020, depicting various areas and ideas for Flower Castle. Interestingly, Kris is seen with a blue neckerchief/mantle/ascot in this art.
